Questions & Answers

This tea is one of my favorites, but I'd like to give it as a gift to someone who suffers from Celiac disease. Is gluten-free certification available for this product?

Gluten-free certification is not available for this product. Gluten-free products in Japan are not tested or certified. foods that are provided for free The ingredients, on the other hand, are free of gluten. free of gluten and don't appear to have come into contact with it a collection of items I have Celiac Disease and am able to consume it without difficulty. AVOID the Houjicha if at all possible. That always gets a reaction from me, probably because the tea is roasted with or on the same equipment as barley (roasted barley tea is also popular in Japan).

I don't want this individually wrapped; can you just give me the tea leaves?

Loose tea leaves are available for this type of tea. However, it is only available in tea bags for this item. I simply searched for "loose tea leaves" in the Search box.

I'm looking for a place to buy this tea in the Santa Clara Area, CA. Perhaps a Japanese town? Where would you find it in a grocery store? Ranch 99?

It was nowhere else to be found. This item comes from Japan and will be delivered to you.

Can you tell me if they're still fresh? Is it going to have an expiration date? Because the one I received from Japan Direction has such a short expiration date. ?

I put mine in a holder after taking it out of the box. Except for the tea-making instructions, the bags are packaged in individual foil packets with most of the writing in Japanese. They're all brand new. I'm not one of those people who cares about the date on which something will expire. I save things until I have a need for them. I throw things out if they're bad, but this has never happened to me before.

If you like green tea with a hint of matcha but want something a little different, this is the one to get
5/5

Simply put, this is some of the most delicious green tea I've ever tasted. When my wife and I went out to a local sushi restaurant (HapiFish in Encinitas, CA) recently, we ordered their green tea. WOW! br>br>EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EX Was there a distinction? The toasty smokiness of this product, combined with the Matcha blend, makes tea drinking a delightful experience. (While I write this, I'm sipping a cup of coffee)br>br>Here's the description: Tea leaves 100% for domestic use. The triangle was incorporated into the nylon bag. The term "domestic non-commercial" was used. "Glutinous rice" was roasted brown Age, with fragrant Genmaicha Matcha. While the English is a little "wonky," it's just plain good. The triangle nylon bag, by the way, is fantastic. br>br>Order this if you like green tea with a hint of matcha but want a little more. It's the genuine article, shipped directly from Japan (via Amazon). Thank you, Itoen! br>br>.

The Worst I've Ever Seen
3/5

We learned to drink genmai cha as children growing up in a Japanese neighborhood in Hawaii, and my entire family still enjoys it. I can honestly say it's the worst I've ever had, and I didn't come to it because of the green tea craze. It smells like old feet and has a taste that isn't much better. What was the point of pulverizing everything? br>br>Please accept my apologies. As loose tea, it is far superior. Until I find the right one, I'll have to buy loose teas. The toasted rice is properly added to the loose green tea, giving it a fragrant and toasty flavor. Because the toasted rice occasionally pops and looks like tiny popcorn, we used to call it "popcorn tea" when we were kids. My parents were adventurous eaters, and they encouraged us to follow in their footsteps. But it's only a matter of time before. . . yuck. That's what happens when you try to cut corners.

Finally! Genmaicha is very good
5/5

I've been drinking Yamamotoyama Genmai Cha tea for quite some time, and I work with a group of tea connoisseurs who enjoy sharing tea. "This is the best of the worst," I said as I handed each of them Yamamotoyama tea bags. We all know that green tea is better for us than black tea, but it's like drinking lawn trimmings essence. Genmaicha is more appealing to me because of the toasted rice. br>br>Itoen Genmaicha was recommended to me by another Amazon reviewer. I drink this tea several times a day because I enjoy it rather than because I feel obligated to. It tastes great. As a result, I've begun ordering it on a monthly basis. When you receive your package, the reviewer who recommended it suggests placing another order. It takes a long time for items to arrive from Japan. The box is smashed, but the tea inside is individually wrapped and undamaged. br>br>I drink it straight out of a 12 oz. tea cup. I let it steep for a few minutes longer than the recommended 30 seconds. The color is stunning thanks to the matcha - There are a few dregs at the bottom of the container. Consider how many antioxidants are coursing through your body as you drink them. br>br>The text on the back of the wrapper is a lovely haiku about gathering nori (seaweed), in case you're interested. This was revealed to me by a Japanese-born colleague of my husband's.

Packaging is a disaster
3/5

Tea is quite good. The tea is okay; it's a decent brown rice green tea. The packaging is terrible, and I'm not going to buy it again because of it. It's made of plastic rather than foil. They are plastic polymer sachets rather than paper sachets. I'm pretty sure the strings are made of plastic. WHY! I threw a bunch of these in my compost without realizing they were plastic, and now I'll have to pick plastic tea sachets out of my garden for the rest of my life. There is no reason for these materials to be used in the future; instead, please use biodegradable, natural fiber alternatives.

I PREPARE IT IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER: This tea had a flavor that I really liked
5/5

It has a pleasant toasted flavor and a lovely green herb background. It took a long time to arrive, but the wait was well worth it. br>br>HOW I RECOMMEND GETTING IT READY: I discovered that using 17- was the best option. 18 oz of water (roughly the same amount as a standard water bottle). I keep an eye on the water in a transparent glass kettle to see when it begins to bubble but does not yet boil. After that, I take the kettle out of the oven and leave it to cool for a minute. After that, I steep two bags for about two minutes and thirty seconds. I should mention that I agitate the water and bags both when I put them in and when I take them out. This is a delicate tea, and finding the "sweet spot" of brewing to make it just right takes some trial and error. Of course, your mileage may vary due to differences in water types and other factors. I hope this information is useful to someone.

Very good (of a low standard)
5/5

Each bag contains a sufficient amount of ground tea leaves, but the tea is light. You should buy matcha powder if you want to make serious matcha tea. The roasted brown rice imparts a robust roasted rice flavor to our tea, which some of us enjoy. A nylon bag is used to contain the tea leaf, which is then placed inside a 3x2 container. Yellow plastic bag with a diameter of 5 inches. It takes a lot of effort to open the plastic bag. The bag has a small cut on the top that allows you to easily tear it open for a free experience. From the preparation to the consumption of this tea, it is an enjoyable experience! It's sold and shipped out of Japan by a Japanese firm. From the time I placed my order until it was delivered, it took three weeks. I'll buy in bulk next time. It is possible to improve the shipping packaging. When the box arrived, it showed a lot of wear and tear, as if it had been beaten up. For that reason, instead of giving it five stars, I'll give it four.

I can confirm that this is better than Yamamotoyama (though slightly more expensive) and MUCH better than the Maeda-style ramen
5/5

Better in the sense that, as others have pointed out, it has a much richer, robust green tea flavor. You might prefer the other two if you prefer a more subtle flavor, but I've tried a lot of green teas and I think most people would agree that this one tastes better.
