As described, the mesh is extra fine and I hardly get any herb flecks in my tea, if any at all. The reason I wound up choosing this is that honestly, all of the infusion carafes I was considering were really pricey. A great little product that does the same damn thing for half of the price. Due to the fact that I don't really need teapots, being able to hang it on the side of my large thermos does wonders for my tea consumption.
