Questions & Answers

Is this home machine the same as the Melitta Machine used by McDonald's?

Not to be confused with Macdonald's Melitta, which is designed for heavy-duty use. Commercial use is not permitted. It is possible to make lattes, but you must first learn how to do so. It seems unlikely that Melitta would market an expresso home machine that would last "ten years," as someone claims here, so you might assume that it was only used occasionally, rather than daily. Or not.

I don't have a carafe, so I'm not sure how much water to put in the machine. Is it 4, 6, or 8 ounces per shot?

In addition, I misplaced my carafe. As a substitute, I use a one-cup Pyrex measuring cup. I added 9 ounces of water to the mixture. 8 oz. espresso is returned to me. For each cup of coffee I make, I use 2 oz espresso. I'm the one who makes the Americanos.

Is there a filter to put in the steel arm or do you just put coffee in the basket?

There are no filters on this picture, so it looks different than the Melitta I had. You bring your own coffee (a blend of espressos; gently into the steel cup without a filter (which is a very fine grind).

Is there a bean option for this machine in the form of a pod?

I'm assuming you're referring to Keurig coffee pods. Notably, this thing's holder can hold more coffee than a K-cup holder. cups can take, allowing you to make a stronger or larger cup as is (just lightly press the grounds down so they're even and flat; I created a detailed cheat sheet for this machine, which you may have already seen on Amazon. ) br>br>I don't believe any pods will work with this machine (partly because I believe this Melitta is from the pre-WWII era). Because the Keurig has a little spike that pops the pod open just in the center and shoots the steam through that, whereas this Melitta has a circle of steam vents all shooting down straight on the grounds, I believe it is from the Keurig era. If you want to play around with it, remove the entire top of the pod and place it inside, exposing all of the coffee. However, I'm not sure you'll be able to close it safely with the pod inside, and with a machine that doesn't turn off easily, you'd risk steam burns. I can imagine the scene becoming quite tense, with coffee gushing out the sides of the machine as you try to unplug it with a broom handle from around the corner. Try looking up user videos to see if anyone has done it with this machine; a quick search for this model turned up nothing.

Excellent espresso at a reasonable price! Great machine, but I was surprised to learn that I was purchasing a "new" machine that had been on the shelf for more than 15 years
4/5

Copyright 2000 is stated in the documentation included with it. The color of the outer box was red, with faded spots from light exposure. However, the unit's inner packaging provided excellent protection, and discovering the included VHS tape on how to make coffee with the unit was amusing to say the least; however, the unit functions flawlessly and produces excellent espresso. My only complaint is that there is excessive casting flash on the metal "cross support" in the inlet where you pour the water into the unit, resulting in splashing and bubbling of the water as you pour it into the machine; however, this simply means filling the machine more slowly, and has no negative impact on the machine's operation.

I'm so happy I came across this to replace my old one! To begin with, this is a vintage piece
5/5

I purchased this espresso machine to replace one that had been given to me over two decades ago. To be clear, the original one did not last two decades of daily use, but I love how easy it is to use, and I love being able to make 4 cups of espresso at a time for 1 Americano each morning for the next four days. Advantages: br>br> Cup measurements on the carafe and in the espresso bowl make it simple and easy to use. By filling the carafe to the metal band, you can make 4 cups of espresso at once and have extra steam for frothing milk. You can start the machine, walk away, and come back later to get your espresso. There's no need for pods. Your favorite espresso ground coffee was used. Small! It doesn't take up much space on the counter. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. For me, the steamer is adequate, but based on the reviews I've read, espresso connoiseurs may be disappointed in having to nurse the milk into a froth by raising and lowering the milk canister. To get a good crema in the carafe, it's difficult to tamp the espresso down properly. That could be partly due to my lack of experience, as I only drink Americanos and Breves.

I wish they were still manufactured
5/5

We bought one of these a long time ago and had to replace it when it became tangled. We've given them as gifts to people who rave about our morning lattes, which we serve to our overnight guests in the mornings. Unfortunately, they are no longer manufactured, so we take advantage of any opportunity to obtain one. I now have four, which we "store" with family members who we visit so that we can enjoy our favorite beverage made with our favorite espresso machine whenever we visit their homes.

The ideal espresso machine for small spaces
5/5

I was ready to order this espresso machine, which makes the equivalent of two cappuccinos or lattes, as soon as I found out it was made by Melitta. It's simple to operate, and its small size aids in the reduction of clutter. The espresso is of excellent quality, and the steamer creates excellent foam for regular or almond milk-based beverages. That's what I'm talking about. I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it, and the price was excellent!.

Melitta Espresso Cappuccino Machine: I adore this cappuccino machine, though I must confess that I do not use it to froth milk
5/5

The entire process of frothing milk on a home machine is too time-consuming and messy. I'm up for it - For brewing a cup of espresso that tastes good, uses your own ground coffee beans and allows for a large amount of beans to be used, is fairly fast, and steams the grounds, I simply use a dedicated milk frother in the microwave; however, this is the best machine I have used for brewing a cup of espresso that tastes right, uses your own ground coffee beans and allows for a large amount of beans to be used, is fairly fast, and steams the grounds. I've also had to work with the company on a couple of minor product defects, and they were quick to apologize and fix the problem. It's also simple to operate - In contrast to other machines with smooth cone-shaped lids, the lid on this one is ribbed and easy to grip. caps with a shape In comparison to other machines, there is very little splatter when the espresso is dispensed. I am completely satisfied with this machine, as I did not expect it to be of such high quality. high-line from this low-cost machine's performance I got a lot more than I expected from the cost machine.

Maker of cappuccino and expresso in Cape May
5/5

When people tell me that the expresso I'm drinking isn't really "an expresso," I get a kick out of it. br>The machining on the water cap was the first thing that convinced me right out of the box that this could be a decent little appliance: It has the appearance and functionality of something NASA might use. (Boiling water in a pressure seal is extremely volatile. )br>I can't think of anything negative to say about this machine. I'm sure I'll graduate to one of the [more expensive]machines at some point, and then I'll be able to say things like, "Hey, my old Melitta didn't automatically top cappuchino foam with sprinkles like my new one does. " "Until then, I advise you to keep your cheap shots to yourself. " br>For the Average Joe, the Best First Expresso Machine! br>(By the way, if the "basket" is a little difficult to seat, don't lash out - it'll be fine. ) It just takes some practice!)br>As a point of reference, I'm planning on picking up a small, trial-size package of Melitta soon. I've never had their coffee (does it come whole bean rather than ground?). ), but this fantastic little machine has redeemed their reputation in my eyes.

coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee This is simply fantastic! It's simple to use, and it makes delicious espresso
5/5

It is, in fact, a good deal. I've never made cappicino or espresso before, but the first batch I tried came out perfectly. I'm not sure why I've never heard of this company before, but I'm going to see if they make a regular coffee pot to replace the one I have now.

Every penny I spent and every penny I saved were well worth it
5/5

This is a fantastic little machine! It performs admirably, takes up minimal space, and is one of the few espresso machines that includes a pot for collecting the good stuff. br>I use it on a daily basis. I've spent all of my money at [local coffee shop]. You'll be pleased as well. br>There's also no reason to pay more for a machine when you can get one that works just as well for less!.
