Questions & Answers
If you're talking about the crema, the answer is that it works in the same way that any other machine with a pressurized filter does, i.e. It does not produce crema; what appears to be crema is simply a result of aeration caused by squeezing through the pressurized filter's single hole. However, you can buy a non-alcoholic beverage. You can get an excellent 1/2 inch crema using a pressurized filter (Mr. Coffee 4101) and practice.
This unit is adequate for the novice espresso maker. Because the grind is coarser than most espresso machines, this unit produces 15 bars of pressure, despite the fact that espresso only requires 11 bars of pressure to produce a fine shot. A standard grinder set to its most fine setting should yield a good shot; if the coffee comes out like water, however, you'll need a better grinder. You'll be looking for a 25-second shot that looks like a mouse tail. If you're looking for a unique way to
Yes. Place one under each port, one on top of the other, so that they are close to each other.
It depends on where you bought it; if you bought it in the United States, it was most likely 110; if you bought it in Europe, it was most likely 220. If you buy it in Mexico, Argentina, or Nigeria, it will work on their respective voltages. Importing it into your country may cause problems, so buy it locally instead.
Selected User Reviews For De'Longhi Dedica 5-Bar Pump Espresso Machine, Black
My old espresso machine had started to leak, so I needed a new one. After weeks of research based on my budget, I came across this machine. br>Upon receiving this machine, I immediately noticed several differences from all of my previous machines.
1. If the owner's manual is actually read, this machine is extremely simple to operate.
2. This machine is far quieter than any other I've ever used.
3. The time it takes to get the machine ready is exactly 40 seconds from the time it is turned on.
4. This machine has a number of useful settings and features. There are three different temperature settings to choose from. To accommodate user preferences, shot volumes can be easily changed.
5. The steaming wand can be improved by removing the chrome cover.
6. The espresso and steamed milk that results are fantastic. br>br>Out of the box, this is a fantastic machine. As time and usage go on, we'll see what happens. So far, my purchase decision has proven to be a good one.
OK, I'm not going to talk about the machine's performance; the espresso it produces is plenty good for me, and I like the speed with which it can be prepared and the relative ease with which the grounds can be disposed of. This is the fourth Dedica I've purchased from deLonghi. I have three major concerns: br>br> Do not put your ground holder in the dishwasher; I have a Bosch and the chrome came right off the holder after the first wash, plus I had to scrub the black sooty residue left by the dishwasher detergent (the most likely cause of the problem). br>2. I attempted to use the provided descaler and followed the explicit directions, but the steam light, which indicates the need for descaling, did not turn off on two of my machines.
3. I used the plug provided to tamp down the espresso grounds into the holder, which is why I have so many machines, aside from having two separate residences. Big mistake; the pump struggled and only a small amount of espresso came out, despite the fact that the machine had been running for quite some time; eventually, one of the machines essentially died on me, as it appeared to be without power. When I was too preoccupied to tamp down the grounds one day and the machine performed flawlessly and quickly, I realized that tamping down the grounds should be avoided at all costs. br>br>Unfortunately, deLonghi says nothing, so why is a tampon provided to tamp down the grounds? Anyway, the last machine works perfectly, and I've stopped using the tampon to tamp the grounds into the holder; when it's time to descale, I'll simply pour some vinegar into the tank and run it through its paces, rinse thoroughly, and put up with the obnoxious flashing steam indicator. Bottom line, I recommend the machine, but be cautious about putting the holder in the dishwasher, don't tamp the grounds, and ignore the stupid flashing steam indicator; instead, run a few cups of water spiked with white vinegar on a regular basis.
To begin with, customer service is a complete nightmare. Second, the unit isn't very long lasting. Allow me to explain: 1. br>br> While the unit was still under warranty, I called to have it repaired. They pretended to be able to fix it. They were supposed to send me an email with information about the needed repairs (you don't get this paperwork until your proof of purchase has been confirmed). I called again two weeks later to inquire about the status of my proof of purchase. They didn't seem to check my receipt. For nearly two months, we exchanged letters! After my warranty had expired, they approved the proof of purchase. Fortunately, I was able to obtain as much information as possible via email, allowing me to demonstrate that it was their fault that they approved it after the warranty had expired. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br They repaired the pump and then gave it a 30-day warranty extension. It began to fail nearly 45 days after it had been repaired. It was not going to be fixed again. After they fix it, they only offer a limited warranty. What are the implications of this? It implies that they do not believe their service or products will last once they have been repaired. Our Mr. Coffee espresso maker, which cost less than half as much, has held up much better over time!.
I'm Italian and from Naples, so when I saw this, I said, "OK, that's mine. " The first few uses went perfectly, and the expresso was fantastic, but now every time I need a single expresso, I have to press the single expresso button, wait for a few drops to come out, and repeat this process three times to get a single coffee because the machine no longer works as it did before, and I can't return it because I bought it before I got my apartment.
I found it with this gorgeous little machine! Now I can make my 3 shots in less than 5 minutes, and I’m spending 80% less by getting the sugar free vanilla syrup I can now have three caramel macchiatos per day, and this machine has held up admirably to my heavy use! If you're debating whether or not to spend the $200, consider how much you've spent at your local coffee shop in the last few months. You're not going to be let down.
