Questions & Answers

I understand that a tamper is included, but what size is required?

It has a 48mm (1.25 inch) diameter. Plastic tamper (actually 9") with 51mm (2") cups. Actual inside diameter: 025" As a result, a 51mm tamper would be an excellent addition to your collection.

Will a 7. Is it possible to fit a 5 oz glass cup below the drip line?

I suppose it depends on the cup's proportions, but if standard is around 3- Without a doubt, 3/4 inches There's plenty of space beneath the surface: 4 inches away from the filter The base of the holder is tipped.

Is it compatible with 220 volts, and how long does it take to brew a cup of coffee?

No, it's just like any other coffee maker you'd find in your house. It operates on 110 volts, and it takes longer to set up than it does to brew. It's easier to brew than it is to get out of bed. The machine heats up in about 5 minutes, which is similar to how long my Keurig takes to heat up. In terms of brewing, it takes about 5 seconds to fill a demitasse cup. My espresso machine is one of my favorites; it's my first and it's perfect for my needs at home. The grocery store sells Lavazza espresso grounds, which I buy.

Does anyone know why my machine has started to leak after only a month of use?

After making an espresso, water drips into the catch tray, but I'd take advantage of the warranty if you have an outside leak. I've had my machine for a few months and haven't experienced any problems.

The 40792 produces a decent espresso with a unique flavor profile
3/5

Aside from making a decent espresso, the Hamilton Beach 40792 has a few redeeming qualities. In the morning, I make about 4 shots (ounces) with a carafe from an older machine. The espresso isn't as rich as store-bought espresso, but it's still good. It has a detachable see-through lid, which sets it apart from lower-end espresso makers. The back-of-the-house water tank allows you to make several drinks before having to refill it. The machine will be damaged if it is run without water, according to the manual. I appreciate how simple it is to operate, particularly the filter locking lever. It's a mystery why other, more expensive machines still require you to blindly screw in portafilters. Another feature of this machine is that the extraction is not measured, and no single shots are used. two buttons for firing shots You have complete control over the extraction time and, as a result, the amount of coffee you make in one sitting. You must keep an eye on the process if you do not want a spill. Because the extraction is quick, it isn't a big deal, and it allows you to make larger, but weaker, servings. The instructions state that you should unplug the device after each use. To stop making espresso, set the dial to neutral. Allow a few seconds for the system to vent before pressing the power button to turn it off. The machine can then be unplugged. br>br>In the absence of microfoam (explanation below), I pour about 4-quarts of water into the machine. 6 oz. espresso, 1 inch cold milk in a regular coffee mug The coffee is rich enough to maintain a head of foam that, while not quite as creamy as a latte, comes close. For less than a hundred dollars, it's a steal. On the downside, don't expect much from the machine's steam wand, which is a disappointment whether you use the plastic nozzle or not. The wand will heat milk, but you'll have to spend at least another $300 to get it. Microfoam can be purchased for $0. 00. I'm interested in the Breville Bambino Plus (not available on Amazon at this time), which has recently increased in price by $100. From $0 to $599 00, but it promises to be simple to make microfoam with. Even so, the comparison is unjust. The 40792 is a good value for the money. I would add that using good, finely ground beans will greatly improve the results. Finally, the power cord is only 18 inches long, so you'll probably have to physically move the machine to an outlet to get your beverage.

This machine is fantastic! A few weeks ago, the second of this machine's older versions died
5/5

I noticed that Mr. Coffee had a good reputation in this town, so I went downtown and purchased one - a colossal squander of funds - There isn't much crema and the taste is bad. I went back to Amazon and looked at other machines, and after doing some research and deciding whether I wanted a third of the older version or to try this new one, I chose this. It appeals to me. Great crema, quick to brew, and good frothing. [On Mr. Coffee, it was terrible]. This machine is unquestionably a five-star machine!.

With one fatal flaw, this is the best budget espresso maker I've ever owned
3/5

I've owned Krupps, older Hamilton Beach models, and Delonghi for the past decade, despite the fact that the pumps are weak and go bad after about 18 months. Following my recent Delonghi pump failure, I read the reviews for this unit and decided to give it a try. It makes a fantastic espresso shot! The extraction process is very good. The espresso filter and the espresso filter holder are both expertly engineered to produce a rich crema every time. Hamilton Beach thoughtfully approached not only making the best cup of espresso at this price point, but also making it consumer friendly, as evidenced by the unique espresso filter holder clamp. There's only one issue. br>br> I emptied the espresso grounds, rinsed the espresso filter and filter holder, and hung them to dry after the first use. The interior of the espresso filter holder was oxidizing the next morning, which I noticed. There were a lot of powdery aluminum deposits. I contacted customer service and informed them of the issue I was having. They sent a replacement filter holder right away, but after just one use, the same oxidation and powdery aluminum deposits appeared. The filter holder appears to have a coating on the outside, but this does not appear to extend to the interior for some reason. br>br>So, unless Hamilton Beach resolves the issue with the espresso filter holder, I strongly advise you to avoid this otherwise excellent espresso maker. It's probably not a good idea to drink powdery oxidized aluminum.

One major issue is the porta-potty, which I find to be disgusting
3/5

I returned this expresso machine and replaced it with a Capresso pro machine, which has a much better stainless steel portafilter.
