It was important to have a lid that would be sturdy enough to stay on the main holding vessel for 24 hours, but not slide off too easily or be too large. I'd been using everything from paper towels to large silicone pan lids, and they were all either ineffective or just plain irritating. The lid I just used is far too tight on my older black plastic brewing system (I've used it one time so far). It may not fit perfectly, but with a bit of stretching, I can make it work. There is no way this lid would fit if the diameter were 1 millimeter smaller. Due to my arthritic hands, stretching my lid isn't my favorite thing, but I can deal with it since I do it so rarely. Silicone does not deteriorate over time, so it will not loosen over time. But as I mentioned, it is functional and does the job it is designed to do The best part is that it is removable and easy to clean. In the end, an excellent cold brew system was a worthwhile investment.
My cold brew tastes so good now that I have this in my system! fresh all day while I brew, and another added bonus is that when you are positioned to remove the plug, it creates suction that keeps it from spilling out until the seal on the lid is released. That makes removing the plug very convenient because I do not have to worry about my hand getting wet.
Despite the fact that it looks more or less different from the picture, the fact that it works well still does not matter. Since I use a reusable filter, the string does snake out of the shape of the container (and the container burps when the string is left in), but since it's silicone, it's super flexible and can fit the string without being a hassle. There is no longer any concern about 1) falling objects in it or 2) spilling liquids in it. A big thank you goes out to my brother! It's great to work with you I was SO glad it was worth.
It fits snugly and it is easy to open and close. A Toddy is something I use every day. Having been soaked in coffee for a while, I was sick of using plastic cling wrap. Hence, I ordered this lid. I love that the lid fits snugly and is easy to take on and off due to the stretch. Here is one thing to keep in mind The air must enter the top when you are ready to pull the cork. Lift the edge when pulling the cork. The suction that occurs when the lid is on allows the bottom of the coffee mug to prevent the coffee from draining.
There is just one odd design flaw to the Toddy stuff - it does not come with a lid. Yet it did exactly what it said it would do. Your Toddy cold brew system will look nice in this soft cover. You won't have stuff fall into your cold brew if you use these in the dishwasher.
The spill prevention system prevents liquids from spilling. Getting two quarts of coffee out of my toddy requires filling it the whole way to the top. The thing makes it easy for me to pick it up and place it on the carafe without spilling any contents. When the coffee drains, it must be removed as it fits tightly enough that the vacuum creates a vacuum and leads to a leak. I found it to be a bit tricky at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, I didn't have any problem.
This is what I bought when I first bought it In the past six years. My hope was that it would work with my new laptop. So as it brews, it forms a great seal that keeps out other things. There is a lot of pliable silicon in this. There is no comparison to fighting with the seal's press.
While your Toddy is brewing on the counter, this is a terrific way to keep dust, bugs, and debris out! Make sure to take off a few inches of this stuff when you're draining, or else your flow will almost disappear, since this makes a really good seal at the top.
