Questions & Answers

What are the dimensions of the outside?

The wort line has a 3/8" outer diameter.

Is it possible to use this with a kitchen sink?

It should work if your kitchen faucet has a threaded end on the spout that can connect to a garden hose end. One hose will connect the sink faucet to the counterflow, and another will connect the counterflow to the sink to drain it. I collect the water in pails and reuse it for other purposes (gardening, etc.). The hoses for attaching the counterflow chiller to the faucet are not included. Garden hoses are used to get water in and out of this.

Is it made of cooper tubing? /2" in diameter on the outside?

There aren't any 1/2in connections on the wort. 3/8in is a better guess. I purchased 3/8in silicon tubing from my local brew supply store, and it fit perfectly. Garden hose connections are used for the cold water.

Is it possible to make a 10 gallon batch of this?

The batch size is irrelevant with counterflow chillers because of how they work. It can theoretically cool a 10,000 gallon batch if there is enough cold water running through it.

In a nutshell, this thing works, and it works well
4/5

but; In the time it took the wort to travel the 25 feet, I was able to cool down from a boil to around 68 degrees. If desired, I suppose I could adjust the flow rate to make it even cooler. br>br>However, I could only give it four stars because when I ran a leak test before putting it to its proper use, I ended up with water all over the place. The worm gear clamps on the hose needed to be tightened, and I had to disassemble the water in/out fittings, apply more teflon tape, and reassemble them. tighten. Because I was aware of this, I made preparations ahead of time. I tightened the wort line fittings, and so far there have been no problems. I have a feeling these were just made and shipped without any leak testing. br>br>All right, let's get started. buy one? Yes, you must. They perform admirably. Take a look at the price; I believe that is a fair price to pay if it worked the first time. But, given that I dismantled half of it, worked on it, and re-assembled it, I thought it was a little high. it was put together.

It's a true workhorse
5/5

Counter Flow Chiller is a fantastic product. It's well-built and simple to operate. (Before you use it for the first time, make sure you tighten all the connections. ) A small amount of water was leaking, but it was easily fixed with a wrench. )br>I recently switched from an immersion chiller, which was too small for my kettle and didn't work well with the cold break or the Hopstopper. br>As a pre-chilling device, I used my old immersion chiller. The counterflow chiller is connected to a garden hose, and the out of CFC is connected to a garden hose and sprinkler. When your garden hose is turned off in the winter, you can use a closed water circuit with a water pump in a cooler of water. br>I was able to drain 5 gallons by gravity feeding from my kettle through the CFC to my carboy. 6 gallons of wort chilled from 210 degrees to 74 degrees in 10 minutes. br>Be sure to sanitize it beforehand, and then drain all of the water and blow it out with an air compressor or CO2 from your kegging system before storing it dry. br>Extremely efficient chiller at an affordable price!.

This is an incredible product that every home brewer should have
5/5

This is an excellent item. There were no leaks at all because of the high quality parts and fittings. br>br>I wanted to see how well my new keggles and burner would work, so I did a test boil. Even though I'm working with very cold water in April, I have nice, cold water all year. The temperature of the water coming from my spigot was 46°F. The water in the kettle was 198 degrees when I began draining it. It had dropped to 50 degrees when it emerged from the chiller. That was with the valve fully open and water flowing freely from the spigot. br>br>Probably one of the top three investments I've made in my brewing hardware thus far. br>br>I'm sure with some tinkering or a pump it wouldn't chill down as low, but either way the ID of the copper tubing is enough to keep the pace slow enough to get maximum chilling effort. br>br>Prob one of the top three investments I've made in my brewing hardware thus far. Thank you, NY Brew Supply, for producing such a high-quality product.

Amazing product that saved me a lot of time during my immersion
5/5

Amazing product that saved me a lot of time when it came to immersion chilling. If you have enough water pressure from the boil, you can adjust the water pressure to chill down to ale temperatures or even lagering temperatures. Rubber hoses are available for purchase.

This is absolutely fantastic
5/5

AMAZING! As quickly as gravity flow allows, it chills my wort from 200 to 70 degrees. I used to chill 5 gallons in the "in the bucket" chiller, which took up to 30 minutes. The only disadvantage of this system is that the hops pellets will quickly clog it. This must be free of hop trub before it can be used.

It works perfectly! Gravity seemed to be working almost too well
5/5

Because my wort in the fermenter was the same temperature as my water (45 degrees in Alaska), I had to reduce the amount of water I added. With a pump, I'll be able to control the wort flow by using a ball valve to slow or speed it up. This is a fantastic chiller.

Awesome! This is fantastic! Our wort was brought down to around 85 degrees from boiling in just one pass

We were dropping by degrees per minute as we recirculated back into the boil kettle. Our cooling process has been completely transformed!.

It's of excellent quality and performs admirably

Fittings are of good quality and are standard. I'm amazed at how well it functions! The only regret I have is that I didn't learn about counter flow chillers sooner in this hobby.
