Even if you use 33-degree water for cooling, I believe it will be difficult. I'm no expert, but the 1/2 inch stainless will not allow enough cool water to pass through the coil to achieve a cool rate of 5 gallons per minute. It may be time to invest in a commercial plate chiller, given the size of your mash. Brewmation is a cool site to check out.
You can recirculate back to the kettle until it reaches 140°F or lower, then transfer to the fermenter, but without a way to cool your chilling water, you'll only get to 85°F. If you have an older immersion, put it in ice water and run your chilling water (prechill) before going to the Exchilerator. Even if you prechill, I would still recirculate. Prior to going to the fermenter, reduce the temperature to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. For your other question, try searching for Exchilerator's HangOver in your browser; it might be what you're looking for to recirculate. return to your water heater I'm afraid I won't be able to provide you with a direct link because Amazon won't let me.
1/4" ID. The most important thing to remember is that your cooling water is significantly cooler than your pitching temperature. If you're interested in purchasing something used but in excellent condition, please let me know.
Yes, it doesn't matter whether you're on top or at the bottom, as long as the cooling water is flowing in the opposite direction of the hot water.br>Stay excited.

What a feat! After a 15-year hiatus, a resurrected brewer. I used an immersion style cooler to cool down my 10 gallon of hot wort back then, and it worked quite well. I live in the Pacific Northwest, where our groundwater is about 50 degrees. I haven't tried the Exchilerator yet because I'm still cleaning and inspecting my entire boil setup. I have high hopes for this beast!br>br>I am working with the company on a minor issue with the dial therm, which is not accurate even after cold and hot calibration. (Email to customer service was sent today, March 15th. ) I have not received a response yet. I'll update you when I have more information. Keep an eye out for updates. Update. br>br> I received a new dial thermometer, which works perfectly. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the thermometer was sent free of charge via priority mail! Thank you very much!.
I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did! Using 50° ground water, I was able to chill a 5 gallon batch from 212° to 65° in 3 minutes and 25 seconds. During the last ten minutes of boiling, I sanitize by pumping hot wort through the coil. I just flush it with clean water after chilling, and it's ready to use again. I highly recommend this chiller!.
The first time I tried it, the wort went in at 190 degrees and came out at 70 degrees. The chiller functioned flawlessly, but I had trouble using it as a gravity system. Because the flow was so slow, it took nearly as long to reach my yeast pitching temperature as it did with an immersion, so that's my fault; I need better draw or I may have to resort to using a pump.
This is a fantastic chiller. This is by far the best chiller I've ever used; I brew 5 and 10 gallon batches and had to get a nozzle to throttle my hose water because it chills so quickly.
I used to cool 15 gallons of wort in. The chiller is incredible. In 45 minutes, I was able to cool 15 gallons of wort. To save water, I installed an enclosed prechiller system. It used to take me almost three hours to cool 15 gallons of wort before I bought the exchilarator. It's a great buy at a reasonable price, especially for the homebrewer.
It quickly chills beer.
I thought it wasn't working because the temperature in the garage was also 62 degrees, so I cooled the boiling wort to 62 degrees. I was under the impression that the gauge was broken. Brew day is significantly sped up. You will not be dissatisfied with this purchase.
Cooling 25 liters in 15 minutes is a perfect result.
