There are no leaks, so it's a win-win situation. This is the second coil I've made from stainless steel. I've never had a copper one, but I've heard they're more difficult to clean and keep in good working order. Cleaning and maintaining the stainless steel ones is a breeze. Because the tap water in Florida is around 90 degrees, wort cooling can be difficult. I submerge this second coil in a 5 gallon bucket of ice water and connect it to my original, which I drop into the wort, and it made a noticeable difference on the first use. The water was lukewarm when it first came out of the outflow, whereas it had previously been scalding hot.
It really works. There were no issues or leaks. Using 80°F tap water, quickly cools wort to 90°F in a matter of minutes. It's much faster to move the chiller around to stir the wort, and I use a fountain pump in a bucket of ice water to get it down to pitching temperature. In less than 20 minutes, I reached a temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
It arrived with four gallons of wort from a. It performs admirably. With 58° tap water, it brought 4 gallons of wort from a roiling boil to 72° in under 18 minutes. Cleaning stainless steel is simple. I disassembled the fittings and double-checked the flares before using it - Everything went well - There will be no issues.
This was a fantastic chiller that worked flawlessly.
It . This item arrived promptly and performs admirably. In 30 minutes, it reduced the temperature of my wort from boiling to around 90 degrees. The only issue I encountered was locating an adapter for my faucet. This is an outstanding piece of machinery.
It does exactly what it should.
This did an excellent job of cooling the wort, and I would recommend it to any homebrewer.
