With a 1/2-inch tube, it will not thermosyphon. For the water to flow, it needs to be at least 3/4 inch deep.
It takes between 20 and 30 minutes to complete. It may take up to 25 minutes, depending on the temperature of the water you're running through the cooler. In the summer, the water temperature in my hometown of southern Georgia is around 70 degrees. It may take less time if the water is colder.
You've got a male and a female so you can connect a hose from the faucet to a drainage hose!
I'm sure you could make it work for you.

I believe the product arrived bent as a result of the packaging. The box was far too large, and it rattled all over the place. Furthermore, the item was not at the location depicted in the photograph. Steel (galvanized?) fasteners are used for the necks of the inlet and outlet. Instead of copper, you can use ( br>br>The price is the only reason this review is two stars instead of one. br>br>Whoever is making these, please pay more attention to detail. Your product was something I really wanted to like.
What is the difference between 3/8" and 1/2"? A LOT! 5 gallons of wort will go from boil to pitch temperature in less than ten minutes if the coils are spaced out with copper wire. I had no issues with the packaging, and the product arrived on time and in excellent condition. br>br>To remove any factory oils or contaminates, I washed the product in warm water with a soft brush.
Just finished cooling 10 gallons of wort brewed in a converted 15 gallon keg. In just 15 minutes, it went from boiling to 80 degrees Fahrenheit! Initially, the hose water was run at a high volume for about 10 minutes, then the flow was reduced to a more moderate flow as the output cooled, allowing for more time for heat exchange and saving on H2O. I collected cooling water to compare the total volume used to my previous method of immersing the brew pot in cold water. I am SOLD! I used 50% less water and cooled twice as quickly!.
The item is well-made and reasonably priced. It arrived in perfect condition, has no leaks, and functions flawlessly. The ability to slide one vertical leg of the tube relative to the other by loosening the two clamps that hold them together is a nice feature. This aids in the cleaning process and improves wort circulation. With the exception of the packaging, I would have given it five stars. br>br>The coil was shrink wrapped to keep scratches at bay, which was a nice touch. It was, however, shipped in a small box with no impact protection other than a piece of paper. It's a good thing it didn't get damaged in transit. Several other reviewers did not have such good fortune, so be cautious! It's worth noting in the coil's instructions: "Unpacking" is a term used to describe the process of removing items from Despite the fact that the coils were carefully packaged, some deformation may occur during shipping. If this occurs, the flexible coils' shape can be easily restored (or even re-created). Designed specifically for you. ) Be careful not to kink the copper tubing when adjusting the coils. "br>br>Isn't this the equivalent of saying, "Your new car has arrived in the showroom?" It could have gotten a little scuffed up on the transporter. Don't worry, you'll be able to re-submit. spray it. You might even want to go with a different color. To avoid the paint from running, proceed with caution. " Why not just ship it in a properly sized box with some effective packaging?.
This is a fantastic wort chiller. br>br>Easily chills my 10 gallon beer barrels. I fill the chiller with water directly from my garden hose. In about 15 minutes, I can chill ten gallon batches. It will take 20 minutes. The larger diameter tubing is appealing to me. It's a little more costly, but it's well worth it. It speeds up the chilling process significantly.
No leaks. Recirculating ice water and/or rain water with the help of a small fountain pump - In 15 minutes, the temperature had dropped from boiling to yeast pitching temperature! Thank you for a great product at a great price, as well as excellent shipping and packaging.
I used to have a 25-foot wort chiller that was always flimsy and the fittings leaked, and it still took a long time to cool my wort, but my lord, this thing on a 5-gallon batch had my wort down to pitching temperatures before I even realized it. My thermometer seemed to be off. I am very pleased with the sturdy construction.
I made one of these out of leftover tubing a few years ago. It was great until one winter when I forgot about it in the shed and it froze and broke apart. I had all of the fittings to make a new wort chiller, but I discovered that I could get this one for less money than I could get tubing for a homemade chiller. This one's construction is excellent, far superior to anything I could do myself. I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by, and I'm so glad I didn't.
