My plate chiller was impossible to clean properly (especially after some hop bomb brewing), so I bought this. Despite the counterflow's small diameter, the wort flow is directed straight into the coil - There are no nooks or crannies where hops or trub can get stuck. That said, I'm a stickler for cleanliness and don't allow anything in my brewery to dry out. I run a PBW solution through it and then rinse it with a pump.
It isn't a long and winding road. It's nothing more than a straight pipe.
You'll need a female-identified person to help you out. to- hose fitting for females My copy came from Amazon.
The wort flows through a 3/8" OD "inner" tubing that is contained within a 5/8" OD "outer" tubing.

The performance lasted 20 minutes, as shown in the photo. During this test, the pump was not throttled, and recirculation was accomplished using a whirlpool arm.
Gravity will take over and the coils will begin to separate slightly, depending on how you mount this coil. To solve the problem, I used zip ties. The fact that both garden hose connections are male is also a problem! This is a serious design flaw! A male to female garden hose connection is available at your local orange, blue, red, or green home center - This is an important detail that should not be overlooked.
This is a very high-quality item at an affordable price; it is not as fast as a plate chiller, but it is adequate. It matches my Brewtolls B40 perfectly, and it's a little longer and more efficient than theirs.
This is a fantastic chiller. I was astounded at how quickly the temperature plummeted. The fact that it's all male fittings caused a minor snag because it required a trip to the hardware store during the COVID shutdown, which would not have been a problem otherwise. It's simple to clean and operate, and it's performed admirably on several batches thus far.
Another CFC with a copper coil inside a heavy-duty hose had to be replaced. A stainless steel version was what I was looking for. Although the smaller 3/8 OD tubing is theoretically better than the larger 1/2 OD tubing in terms of contact area, it does restrict flow. When you recirculate water back into your kettle for whirlpool, the flow rate appears to be slowed. I like how small it is overall and how easy it is to clean. br>If you're connecting a water hose for cold water, you'll need a female-to-male adapter. female adapter for connecting the hose's make end to the CFC's male.
final hop additions and pooling All of that is no longer a problem thanks to the SS Counter Flow Chiller.
I'll be using it soon because it's well made and the threaded connections are clean and free of burrs. If necessary, I will update the review.
It's both functional and attractive. From flameout to 75 degrees, it takes me about 20 minutes on average.
