By increasing the surface area covered by cold water and running wort between plates in the meantime, the MRbrew 20-plate wort chiller cools wort faster than an immersion chiller. Gone are the days of an immensity chiller that takes hours!

This super-efficient chiller uses less water than any other chiller on the market; the wort flows through the chambers inside the plate chiller and aerates for your pitching yeast; you'll save water and money on an aeration stone and CO2 canisters; it's especially good for brewers in hot climates!

The plates and fittings of this wort chiller are made of 304 stainless steel and have been brazed together with pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace, ensuring that there are no leaks or rust. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -321 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit. Before using, make sure the inlets and outlets are clean and free of metal debris.

All of the chiller's connections are 1/2" male NPT quick disconnect fittings. It has a very low restriction, making it ideal for gravity transferring when used in conjunction with a pump. Using a pump will increase flow rates through the chiller, give you more mounting options, and give you the most flexibility on brew day!

Questions & Answers

Is this chiller capable of cooling the wort in a single pass to the fermenter, or does it require recirculation through the brew pot?

I pre- Before passing through the plate chiller, the running water is chilled with a copper serpentine chiller housed in a cooler with a frozen gallon jug of ice. I slowly pour the water through the plate chiller and slowly pour the wort into the carboy through the plate chiller. It reduces the wort temperature from 200 to below 75 degrees Fahrenheit in just one pass. I transfer the carboy to the fermenting refrigerator and use a temperature controller with a sensor taped to the side of the carboy to cool it overnight to 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The following day, I pitch yeast.

Is the product fit for human consumption?

I'd say yes because it's made of stainless steel.

This is what I use with my Picobrew z, and it works perfectly. Fittings for attaching ball locks and a garden hose were simple to come by. It really works. In about 7 minutes, 3 gallons of water will be cooled.

I'm going to put it in my brewery, but the quick acoples came in different sizes, so it'll take some time to get it working, but it appears to be of very high quality. precio.

This is a fantastic little 4x 1/2" NPT heat exchanger

I really like the half-inch NPT. For the water side of the kettle, I use a submersible pump and ball lock quick disconnects, and for the wort side, I use the same ball lock quick disconnects. For the money, this is a fantastic little heat exchanger. Make sure you have a good whirlpool, as this type of exchanger is prone to clogging.

So far, everything has gone well. There are no leaks and the operation is satisfactory. In about 8 minutes, I was able to cool boiling wort to 75 degrees, which was much faster than my immersion method.
