You should be able to do so. You can put this strainer in it as long as it is wide enough.

Is it possible to use it for grain storage instead of muslin bags?

Having never tried it, I have no idea. I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't fit if they were there. Because of its intended purpose, I love it as a hop filter.

It will save you time, and you will "wort" the cost as well

If you find yourself brewing every 2 days, then this is the best choice. If you want this thing, it is important for you to have it for 3 months. By keeping the hops out of the wort, you save about 1/2 gallon. In addition, it saves you a lot of time when transferring the wort When I tried it with hop pellets I was skeptical that it would work, but it did. In my boil pot, I easily dumped two ounces of hops during the boil, and it was incredibly simple to get the hops out. In the future, I could easily add more hops should the need arise. In this case, the hops resisted being crushed, which made it easy to open the basket and clean it. The product fits my 6 gal boiling pot perfectly, by the way. This is a highly recommended book.

It is built to a high standard

Filter screen is tack welded at good intervals so it shouldn't fall apart over time it was also folded over at the top of the frame so prickly barbs and wires are protected. The metal frame is thick and sturdy with quality welding on all seams. Doesn't pose a problem fitting most 5 gal pots, and should probably be fine using most of those. It's a beer. In most cases, the micron level in the filter appears to be adequate for hop pellets as well. It would be recommended to opt for a quality build.

There will be a reduction in hop utilization

You need to keep in mind that if you bought the hop spider, your hop utilization would be reduced. The result of brewing a 50IBU IPA tastes like a 35IBU IPA, if I had to guess. If that's the case and that's while I agitate the spider with a spoon or spatula as much as I can to keep it moving. I've used this in the past to extract chamomile from chamomile leaves or other botanicals to make wheat beer, but I won't use it at all in the future to extract hops. To me, it is better to deal with more trub in the fermenter than have a beer that could have been perfect turn out terribly under-fermented My experience has been bitter (as it has been for me). Moreover, I am not willing to spend the time to determine how much extra is needed to make up for it.

You can solve that problem by adding hops to the boil during cooking. is made well and looks like it will last a long time.

There is not enough mesh in the Those fine meshes tend to clog very easily, so you won't be able to get the most use out of them

I'd say it's a little short on 6 The batch size is 7 gallon, but with some wire it works well. A simple hops basket that keeps the hops in the spider basket and is It feels solid to the touch.

I love it! There is only one drawback to it it has the same issues as Pringles cans. The mesh joint is a little small to allow an adult male's hand to fit inside to be cleaned you can poke your skin inside. The bottom of the bathtub should be brushed with a soft brush.
