This basket strainer is great. Although I have not yet used it for a brew day, I can tell this will be helpful for straining my hops and helping clarify my wort by using a whirlpool at the same time as With the bar keeper's friend, I have passivated it, rinsed with water to remove BKF, and used mild soap to give it one last clean to make sure all BKF has been It can be difficult to clean the small area around the strainer, since the strainer is attached to the steel band by small tack welds. A solution of Star San 4X strength in water was used to passivate the metal. When I have had a chance to brew with it, I will update this review.
These are a few of the things I've bought over time. I just brewed with this particular one for the first time this There has never been a problem with them and I have used them for years. Due to the mesh's fineness, the hop residue will cling to it rapidly so you should plan on cleaning it immediately after use. Take advantage of this handy tool and enjoy the ease with which you can hop around.
As a quick and convenient way to help strain hop material from the boiler during hop boil additions and hop stands, this product can be washed out with a little pressure water and is pretty easy to clean up. According to what I can tell from drinking my beer, the hop screen doesn't affect the bitterness or flavor of the hop boil very much if at all. As far as I am concerned, the screen hole size is ideal.
Filtering the water in the washing machine is what I do with it. My goal is to prevent all the pet hair from clogging my drain line, as it has in the past. When used for that purpose, it does a great job. This is a very solid product. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely buy another.
Staining bags have been my main method of staining up to now. As long as the hop additions are few and far between, it works, but if there are more than 3 additions or 90 minutes to the IPA, it becomes a bit difficult. The following benefits are also included With the spider, the small boil bubbles grew into large bubbles, so there was no boil over. I usually have to babysit the first few moments of the boil, but this was no longer an issue with the You can easily clean up with one strain bag rather than cleaning multiple reusable Unless a 300 micron hole is used, the mesh or fabric produced by wellmade products will not be loose.
When I used the hop spider for the first time, I kicked myself for being cheap and not getting one sooner. I like how easy it is to add hops, and clean up is easy as pie. It's easier to do one thing than to do a lot of things. If you need anything, let me know.
It works great, wish I had bought it many years ago to make beer at home.
Is excellent but it is a little hard to strain out all the wort when trying to do that. That is just showing how fine the mesh is it isn't bad, but it just makes things a little harder.
