Questions & Answers
Because I'm not a newbie, I'll give you my response. Yes. Make sure the butter is chilled before using it. Work it with this tool until it reaches pea size, then stop. DO NOT overwork it. This is a far superior instrument to a fork. When adding water, use tablespoons from an ice water container, but don't overwork it. You'll have a tough dough that'll be easier to handle and put together, but we want a good product, so only add enough water to make a desirable dough, and this is where experience comes in. I discovered that getting a great finished pastry took some time. Patience is required. This is a fantastic program.
It's not designed to be easily disassembled, but it is possible. On the end of the handle, which isn't visible in this photo, there's a smooth-finish screw. The handle can be removed after unscrewing the bolt. I've never had to do that, but it's nice to know that I can if I need to. br>Kristina is a writer who lives in the United States.
In my personal experience, this is not the case. I use butter that is cold rather than frozen. I rub the butter and flour together with my fingers before finishing with the pastry blender. It really works.
This pastry cutter is incredible in terms of quality! The blades are strong, and the handle is solid and sturdy. Certainly not flimsy in the least! Working with pastry dough, chopping hard boiled eggs for egg salad, and cutting avocado for guacamole are just a few of my favorite things to do with it. It's a fantastic device that's well-made and well-worth the investment!
Selected User Reviews For Spring Chef Dough Blender, Top Professional Pastry Cutter with Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Blades, Medium Size
This is not the case with the Spring Chef blender. The thing is built like a tank and feels very solid. The blender's blades aren't particularly sharp, but they're made to cut through frozen butter and blend thoroughly without bending. The handle is cushioned, which is a significant improvement over the wooden handle on my previous tool. br>br>My only criticism is that the handle on this blender is too small for my adult male hand; a half-inch longer handle would have been ideal. Even so, it's a big step up from my old dough blender, and I highly recommend it. If you have large hands, you might want to check out Spring Chef's larger model, which is available on their website if Amazon doesn't have it. br>br>Now for a word on customer service: after purchasing my dough blender, I received an email from one of the co-founders. Spring Chef's founders inquired about my experience. I basically said the same thing in my initial review. I didn't ask for anything and simply expressed my thoughts on the product, and he promptly responded with an email stating that he would send me the larger blender, which he did. He wanted to confirm that I was 100% happy with my purchase. You simply cannot beat that level of customer service, which is why I promptly purchased a new Spring Chef box grater and will continue to check Spring Chef before purchasing any other cooking items. br>br>So, here's how the two dough blenders compare. The medium dough blender has a 4-inch diameter and a 4-inch height. 1/2 inch between the back of the handle and the blade's farthest tip The large dough blender has a 5-inch diameter and weighs about 5 pounds. In the same dimension, 1/4 inch is 1/4 inch. On the medium blender, the handle measures about 3-inches in length. 3 inches long inside the handle; 1/8 inch across the outside; 1/8 inch across the outside; 1/8 inch across the outside; 1/8 inch across the outside; 1/8 inch across The 4-inch blender handle is the larger of the two. On the outside, 3/4 inch (4-inch) 3/8 inch (from the inside of the handle) So the larger blender not only has a larger handle, which in my situation allows for a much more comfortable grip, but it also has a larger blade size. I've included photos to show you how the two compare (that's not rust on the blades; it's a reflection of our pot rack from above). br>br>To summarize, both the medium and large Spring Chef dough blenders are well-built and perform admirably. The medium-sized blender may be ideal if you have small hands or need to blend dough in a small bowl. However, I believe that most people, particularly those with large hands, will prefer to use the large dough blender. Regardless of which one you choose, you can be 100% confident that Spring Chef stands behind the quality of their products and wishes that you are 100% satisfied with your choice.
I've finally put this dough blender to good use. After one cherry tart, one apple tart, and one peach crostata, I believe I've had enough of it to write a review. While it is well-made, I would give it three instead of four stars because of the handle size. br>br>As other reviewers have noted, the handle is just a little too small for true comfort, and when I exert pressure, a portion of my hand extends past the black handle. I can see why the handle was designed to be slightly narrower than the widest part of the blades, as the greater amount of downward force would be kept closer to the center. However, because this is such a small appliance, I don't believe this design feature is particularly important. The handle size would be extremely inconvenient if I used this blender on a regular basis. A final point to consider: The blade edges' finish could be a little smoother, in my opinion. br>br>IMAGES: br>br> I believe I am correct. I'm right-handed, but I took pictures with my left. My left-hand - Because my hand is a little smaller, you can see how far my palm extends past the handle. In gloves, I'm a size Small, and in rings, I'm a size 5. br>br>FINAL REMARKS: br>br> I'm thinking about switching to a different blender brand. It all depends on how long this baking frenzy continues.
10- 2020 When I opened the package, I noticed that the stainless steel blades had metal bur shavings protruding from them. Because of the potentially hazardous metal shavings, I would not use this product to prepare food for my family. I sent a letter to the company and am awaiting a response. I will not recommend this product or the name brand; instead, I will look into the same product through Pamper Chef because I know they take pride in their work. Thank you very much!.
Allow me to say something about my final dough. Because the pastry cutter had been with me for 30 years, no matter what shape it was in, it was an emotional farewell. br>br>A good pastry cutter may not change the world, but it has changed my small kitchen world. After doing some research, I decided on this one based on the reviews as well as the appearance and style. I'm very pleased with the quality and size after using it; I have small hands, and this cutter is much more comfortable than the larger ones I've held. The handle, like the blades, is of excellent quality. This morning, I used this cutter to make 8 pie crusts, and it's fantastic. It's simple to use and blends well without being too thick. To achieve the desired effect, I want to use as little cutting and blending as possible with crusts; otherwise, crusts will become tough. This product has not caused any problems; it is quick and easy to use. br>br>I am very pleased with the product and would order from this company again. The company was very responsive and provided a quick delivery.
I made baking powder biscuits the day before yesterday. Crisco and butter are to be cut into the flour by hand (fingers) as directed in the recipe. It works, but the fats begin to melt as a result of the heat from my fingers. I gave it a shot the other day. It did a fantastic job of incorporating the fat into the flour while causing the least amount of mess possible! My only criticism is that it is a little small for my hands, and if I tried to hold it normally with four fingers inside the handle, the sharp edges of the stamped metal cut the sides of my hand, so I ended up holding it with only three fingers around the handle, which worked fine. br>br>I highly recommend it to avoid making a mess and to keep your hands from becoming completely greasy.
I just got this a few days ago and was very excited because of all the positive reviews for this brand. I used it for the first time tonight to make pie dough and was very disappointed that one of the outside blades bent, which I was able to bend back by gently pushing it with my finger. Not really a heavy-duty product. However, I like how the handle and blades are connected by a screw.
