It can't stand alone on a table because it's only about 1/2" thick. It might work if you have a frame holder or something for it to sit in and lean on (it must be tall enough to support it), but it's better to hang it.
They can't stand on their own because they're too frail. Possibility of leaning.
Outside, I wouldn't use it.
Ken H. is correct, and I agree with him. It should be possible to use paint and primer together. The surface has a flat appearance.

Two times now, I've received a defective item. Both have a chip in the upper corner, and the replacement K (on the right in the photo) had a brown border, which was different from the original and not what was advertised online. This is a real bummer because I really like the letter's appearance. I just wish they had more stringent quality control measures in place to prevent customers from receiving damaged goods.
Great letters that were described accurately online; I especially liked that they were finished for me, unlike most of the other large wood letter options I could find locally and online; the hanging holes on the back were level, and putting them up was a breeze. A fantastic purchase!.
The letter has a solid feel to it, which I like. Because it's made of MDF, it'll last for a long time. The black is matte, and the letter has a distressed edge, allowing the tan to peek out from the corners. It was a nice touch to add some depth to the piece. I repainted mine and it turned out beautifully. The letter's reverse appealed to me. Two nail holes were used to ensure that it was securely fastened to the wall and that it remained straight. Given the low price, I was pleasantly surprised by the product's quality, and I would recommend it to a friend, though I would prefer to see more font options.
Great wood letters that were exactly as described on the website; they were large and had exactly the impact I was looking for on our wall. The back hanging holes were level, making it simple to hang them. One letter had a couple of minor scuffs, but I didn't think they were a big deal. I like how they turned out!.
We were anticipating it based on the photo, but were disappointed when it arrived. Poor packaging, with no protection against the large scratches that covered the "S. " The black color has a spotty matte finish rather than a solid glossy finish as shown in the photo. There's also a light brown wood color edge around the entire front of the "S" that I didn't like and couldn't tell existed from the photo. We intended to have our newborn's footprint engraved on this the day he was born in the hospital, but we were unable to do so due to the poor quality of the product.
The wooden initial is very sturdy, and when it arrived, the painted surface was smooth and free of scratches. It was also simple to hang on the wall. My son was pleased with the final result and especially enjoyed seeing his initial on the wall, indicating that this was J's room to all who entered.
For almost $35, it appears to be a bargain. The image depicts a product that is completely black. The product I received is black with brown on the front and sides, but no brown on the sides. I'm sure I'll be able to fix it, but I'm not convinced. It also has a particle board feel to it rather than being made of real wood.
