The first time I used these, I was shocked to discover that the wicks are practically cut to the level of the wax unless you lift the clips up from the candle surface and guess at where to place them. I didn't find the trimmer to cut the wick at 1/4" as described, but the description describes it as such. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that the blades are sharp and they make clean cuts. The wick trimmer I have has a blade of the same thickness on the bottom, so that when placed on the wax it provides an exact 1/4" cut every time. Amazon does not currently carry the ClearCut brand, but I found two on Etsy and ordered them.

What I ordered was not what I received. The silver embossed wick trimmer I received has been substituted for the black matt trimmer I ordered. The product I received was not what I expected and I was disappointed when I put it in a themed basket along with other matt black accessories. In spite of the product being different from what was described, the quality appears to be reasonably good. The shipping cost was equal to twice the cost of the wick trimmer.
In addition, there is a little part that holds the clipped wick once you have done it. The products are recommended for everyone who uses candles I highly recommend them.
