Questions & Answers

Could you please tell me if this product can be used on cutting boards, etc.?

Alfie Shine is recommended for cutting boards because it is fragrance free.

Which ingredients are in the recipe?

It is a closely guarded secret as to what the actual ingredients are In his book, Jim Hendricks tells us that he researched ancient formulas used by 16th and 17th century societies Makers of Italian violins in the 17th century We know that some of the world's most beautiful wood is preserved in this man. This candles contain waxes made from natural sources, as well as exotic ingredients like In the end, wood surfaces will gleam with a unique texture and sheen.

The material looks like it would work well on my flintlock, both metal and wood. ?

A reproduction should probably be preserved with Alfie Shine, but most importantly, an actual antique would be better protected. An old formula used in Italy for the treatment of violins was used to formulate it. Cleaning and preserving the wood with wax does not change the color of Using the Renaissance Wax on metal parts (I use Renaissance Wax for metal) will build up a protective layer and provide a shiny finish. A very small amount of liquid is required to clean and shine wood, and the surface will leave a very nice 'velvety' appearance. Definitely worth taking a look at.

Do you know if this method works have tried it on a little area, and the results are impressive considering they are bare, but I wonder how long it will ?

You can count on it to last for quite a while But I wouldn't want to coat my floor with it due to the high cost. Waxing floors is not hard - there are plenty of options My preference is to use your Alfie Shine for fine antiques and wood items like sculptures and carvings.

Selected User Reviews For Alfie Shine - Resin Enriched Natural Hard Wax Polish 60ml (2oz) (for USE ON Wood, Metal and Leather)

Despite my review, this is a great product
4/5

A nice wax in a container that has a pleasant "old school" feel to it. I would have given it five stars if there were better instructions. 1) This wax is relatively hard and does not spread very What you can do about that is as follows Warm water should be used to dampen the application cloth. does not mean drenched. facilitate the application of the wax by dramatically improving the cloth's usage. 2) After waiting several minutes, buff the driving wax as directed on the container. This is typically performed with a cloth in order to provide an initial buff. It isn't possible to perform Step 3 without having completed Step 2.

3) Follow up with the final buff using a clean MICROFIBER towel after a few more minutes of waiting. You will need to repeat the process on the other side. When you try it, you'll see why I am making this point. It is amazing what a difference there is!.

It smells and looks like a Stradivarius when I use my wood tools! Violin making history is a source of mystery due to the incredible quality of the wood as well as the materials used to craft A small aspect of the mystery may have been unravelled by Jim Hendricks, the maker of Alfie Shine
5/5

Jim is one of those frustratingly brilliant minds who has the ability to accomplish anything he sets his mind to. Jim researched the works of Italian and other violin makers over the course of many years, and came up with Alfie Shine, a wax that is based on ancient formulas and enhanced with exotic ingredients only Jim would of thought of (it is not yet known what the secret formula is). With the wax, you can clean any precious wooden surface (from your Stradivarius to the knobkerry you keep next to the front door) while preserving its beauty. This product is especially suitable for antique woodworking tools and immediately removes the grime left behind by generations of carpenters. A result of this is the enrichment of grain and coloration of the grain. A second application (especially if the first is allowed time for drying) will produce a rich, shiny finish that will enhance the color and grain patterns of the wood. Aside from adding a smooth, velvety texture to the wood surface, wax also provides a soft, warm glow. My need for good conservation materials led me to choose Alfie Shine over Renaissance Wax, which the British Museum uses You are right, it's always The name of this exceptional wax has been influenced by Jim's shop dog Alfie - a high quality, high performance wood wax. It's hard not to like.

I am so proud of Alfie Shine! Woodworking is as much about collecting tools as it is about building furniture for amateurs
5/5

It has become a hobby for me to restore old tools, and I am always on the look out for vintage wooden tools Planes with bodies designed for bench work and molding. It is difficult to restore the functionality of a vintage tool without destroying its patina, which is one of the trickier aspects of vintage tool repair. It was generally better to use furniture paste wax, which did an adequate job, but left a dull haze and was never really protective. As a result, when I stumbled upon Jim Hendricks on Instagram, I was immediately blown away by It was always a pleasure to work with his tools, as they possessed a It was inevitable that I would try his "secret weapon," Alfie Shine, when it became available for sale. Having never used it before, I decided to test it on a moving fillister plane I've had for quite a while. I applied a light coat, let it cure (overnight) and buffed it out. I followed the instructions exactly. As a result of the first buffing, the appearance of the tool significantly improved. Furthermore, the tool was coated with a protective layer as well. Although I could have left it at that, I applied a second coat to see how it looked the next day. Initially, I didn't expect it to make a big difference, but the plane looks even better now. It looks absolutely spectacular after the plane has been painted three times. I decided to wait one more day to apply the final coat. To top it off, the stuff smells wonderful, just a fresh and pleasant odor, and none of the pungent chemical smells Solvents and waxes have a scent like that. A few people even commented on it, including my wife. As a whole, I cannot vouch for Alfie Shine highly enough. Besides being affordable, it makes your vintage tools shine and is easy to use. It is just a great product in general.

This is the best woodworking wax I have ever used
5/5

I am so amazed by this stuff. I have been doing woodwork out of wood (platters, bowls, knife handles, etc. ) for over 40 years and this is by far the best wax I have The flooring was from a red oak barn that is more than 100 years old). This material is very hard, gets a soft sheen when dry, sheds water well and lasts a long time. My love of the wax is so great that I wander around my house and wood shop looking for things to wax since I've only used 1/3 of it.

Likewise, amateurs are able to achieve great results
5/5

In my free time, I experiment with leatherwork as a hobby and own a collection of classic weapons, air rifles, knives, and other hunting and field tools on which I have used Alfie Shine as both a finish and preservative across nearly the entirety I find Alfie Shine to be the most impressive tool for my purposes due to its ease of application and, consequently, its ability to provide excellent and predictable Applied repeatedly, it does not tend to discolor any material, nor has it tend to penetrate porous materials or creep onto adjacent surfaces, and this behavior is consistent with its behavior with Except when they have a nap, leathers do not have napped. In the same way that you might expect, the fibers of covered leather will darken at some point when they In either case, the resulting finish is very suitable for antiques as well as for new items that you want to give a timeless appearance. As far as I can tell, the effect is somewhat difficult to explain, aside from the fact It's especially useful when it comes to blending new components added to an item when it's being rebuilt since it will make them blend in better than you would expect, and the pleasant aroma of the wax and sealing properties help to counter musty odors as well.
