It will be installed by your tiler. I still have mine because I decided to use the niche without the shelf and use it horizontally.
Why would you waterproof this niche in the first place? The Kerdi has already been connected.
You could probably cut the niche down the middle and realign the pieces, but this will most likely compromise the niche's integrity, and unless you're very careful with waterproofing and leveling, your finished product may not be viable. You can't hold the manufacturer responsible if you reduce the size and the end result is a disaster.
The center section is actually a slack component that isn't required for use. I flipped my niche sideways because I wanted it to be wider and shorter rather than taller and narrower, but I had to cut my studs and build a frame to make it fit. I'm not even going to use the shelf insert's foam piece.

It's impossible to use the shelf because it's far too thick. We came up with the idea ourselves. In addition, one side of the niche was not glued and was loose. On the back, we used duct tape to hold it together, and we used silicone to seal all of the interior seams. I installed the faulty seam at the top and am hoping it does not leak. Everything else went off without a hitch. It arrived in about a week, and we like how it installed flush to the wall, eliminating the need to feather an overlapping niche. Keep in mind that you'll need to tape over the niche's lip and the wall with (additional product). The product description made no mention of this.
After that, the best plan is to go with rondec on the face and four matching inside corners. Rondec R100 is for 3/8th tile, while Rondec RO80 can be used with subway tile (but you'll have to use bullnose tile). In any case, try to complete the next row. The following day, you use a wet saw to cut the tricky ones and proceed to the ceiling. Good night, and rest well.
The advantage of this niche is that it installs flush with the cement board, whereas the plastic ones protrude about 1/8" of an inch above the board, resulting in a noticeable slant when tiled.
on your own. These are preferred by even professionals. Waterproof and built to exacting standards, all you have to do now is choose a location, insert, and anchor. Easy as pie!.
This is an excellent way to construct a shower niche with a custom shelf using Kerdi Fix. It's simple to put together and put in place.
br>If I did it again, I'd probably look at shelving and other alternatives.
It's a good product that's built to last, but it's not inexpensive.
