Questions & Answers

The shower head and the filtering system are not compatible. I'm afraid I'll strip the system of its threads. The threads appear to have a few rough edges. ?

Replace the shower head if necessary, or use a small file to smooth out the rough threads.

Why is this unit only $17 while the replacement costs $54? Why would I purchase a replacement filter when I could simply purchase this one?

Filters can be purchased for $9 from your local shop. 99 each.

Is kdf supported by this filter?

It doesn't mention kdf, but it does mention Chlorgon as a filtration medium.

This isn't an original equipment manufacturer's product
3/5

It says "Sprite" on the front, but it's an universal version, which means it's not made by Sprite, which I didn't realize until I bought two of them and both of them leaked horribly. I went to Lowe's and purchased a genuine Sprite replacement head, which fit perfectly and had no leaks, and was even less expensive than the generic one. I adore Amazon, but it isn't always the cheapest or the best quality, so this sort of thing happens from time to time.

UPDATED: It's a rip-off of the real thing
3/5

Hope it works as well as a Sprite! Is it a genuine Sprite, a knockoff, or an unbranded Sprite? I've used a Sprite filter from Home Depot that looks like this and is called a Sprite, but it doesn't come in the same packaging as the one from Home Depot; instead, it comes in a white box with generic instructions. Like the Sprite, it was simple to install, and there was no loss of water pressure. I'm just irritated that it could be a knockoff or unbranded, but it should be accurately listed. Hopefully, like the real Sprite, it will continue to keep the brassiness out of my hair. Maybe it's just unbranded, but if that's the case, it should be advertised as such, so I'm giving it three stars until I see how it holds up, since I'm not sure I got the genuine article. *** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Following a closer examination of my instructions, I've determined that this is not a Sprite (see attached photos). Shower X is the source of this. These are NSF certified, according to the Sprite website. This is not the case. I'm hoping this one works out as well for me as the Sprite did. This product's description is inaccurate, which irritates me.

It's considered a returned item if it's not in its original packaging
3/5

As previously stated, a returned item is one that is not in its original packaging. When I saw this item in a small cardboard box, I thought to myself, "What am I going to do with this?" But I figured it was worth a shot. What a WRONG DECISION! I've purchased several of these shower filters in the past, all with the same model number, and they've never leaked from both cavities. Whoever made the decision to send this out as a new product should look for a new job. I went to Lowe's and purchased a shower filter in its original packaging for the same price as Amazon, and it worked perfectly- NO leaks.

It is not possible to change the filter
3/5

Take note of the negative feedback. It is not possible to change the filter by opening the cartridge. It's supposed to unscrew, but after three months of use, it's like it's completely sealed. I even tried to put it in a vice, but it's horribly designed. Be forewarned: this is a potentially dangerous situation.

Itchy skin is no longer a constant source of distraction
5/5

I bought this shower head softener because I wanted to see if it made a difference in the way my skin felt after showering. br> My husband, who is very fair-skinned, also has very dry skin, and our water is very hard, so he appears to be satisfied but non-committal. Commitment. His skin appears to be ten times better, and I've noticed this. There are fewer breakouts and the skin is much more even. br> I was trying to limit my showers to twice a week because they would make me itchy for days and cause me to wake up itching at night. So, in a nutshell, I was itching all the time. I no longer itch after showering, and with Summer on the way in my hot, dry climate, I'll be able to shower every day without fear. It's a huge weight lifted off my shoulders! So now I have to go out and buy the shower head refills.

Fix your CHLORINE deficiency
5/5

Only a few filters are capable of removing CHLORINE, which is incredibly dangerous and frequently overlooked. THIS BRAND HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONSCIOUS OF THIS NEED AND PAYED ATTENTION TO IT. DO KNOW, I find it DOES LOWER WATER PRESSURE A BIT, BUT THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS TO GET GOOD FILTER RESULTS, sorry. We also accept that we will need to replace the entire filter holder and filter every 6 months, as the water pressure may cause the plastic holder to break down, or the filter may become clogged with hair. Are there any cracks in the line? I'm not sure, but we've been using it for a long time and won't risk switching brands because of the plastics or pressure flaws. Thank you for making your services so affordable!.

It's popular with my wife, but changing the cartridge is a real pain
3/5

The wife insisted that this would solve the problem of dry hair, so no problem, but the filter cartridge unit would not loosen the first time. I lubed it up after following the installation instructions. But it refused to budge. I sprayed some Blaster penetrant on the threads because I thought they had water deposits. I used my massive channel lock pliers and a large belt wrench, which was difficult to balance at first but I eventually got a handle on it. To loosen the seal, try banging it downward as if it were a stuck glass jar. Because it's made of plastic, I had to be careful not to crack it, and the scars from my pliers began to show. After 30 minutes, it finally let go, allowing me to open it. There were no water deposits on the threads, so I believe the gasket was keeping it in place. I have a tube of PTFE teflon magic lube that I use to keep my o-rings lubricated. Rings on the swimming pool equipment, so now reassembled and wife in the shower; in 6 months, I'll know if the lube helps or if this is simply a poor design.

I've been using this exact model filter for almost a decade and love how low profile it is
5/5

It's one of the best shower filters for removing chlorine, and I can vouch for its effectiveness. Yes, it can be difficult (near impossible) to open at times, but it's cheap enough to buy a new one instead of a replacement filter if you really need to, or you could try soaking it in vinegar if you can't open it. That'll almost certainly suffice. br>br>I like how low profile it is; I was worried that if I moved apartments, it wouldn't fit in my small standing shower without bumping the shower head down too far. No, I didn't notice the difference in height at all. The design is fantastic. br>br>Stop showering in chlorine. Now is the time to get your hands on one. You'll feel better about yourself and your skin as a result of this.
