Questions & Answers

Is there a fluoride filter?

My adult son with autism is fluoride hypersensitive, and he gets headaches within minutes of taking a fluoridated shower, even with a standard carbon shower filter. This filter is the only one I've found that removes enough fluoride for my son to shower comfortably. We have very soft water, so the results may vary, but if you follow the protocols I use, you will get the most fluoride and contaminant removal: 1) Shower for no more than 4 minutes; 2) use warm, not hot, water to reduce absorption; 3) keep water pressure as low as possible for maximum contact time with filtration materials; 4) change filter every 3 months, not 6 months as the manufacturer recommends. Of course, these suggestions are for my son, who has a high fluoride sensitivity and is the most vulnerable of the "miner's canaries." The majority of people will simply enjoy this filter for the entire 6 months, without all of the fuss that we have to go through, and will be pleased that it is far more effective than other shower filters.

Is this beneficial to hard water rather than just chlorine?

Water softening (removal of hard water minerals) is not possible with a shower head filter. Using a hard water test kit, you can easily confirm this. Installing a whole-house water softener or the WaterSticks "ShowerStick" shower water softener (watersticks.com) is the only way to get soft water in a shower. com). If you don't get rid of the hard water minerals, you won't get the results you want.

Is the water pressure affected by the filter?

No, not at first; however, as the filter fills up with things to filter, the pressure drops. Depending on your water, you may need to replace it on a regular basis.

Is it possible to replace the included handheld showerhead with my own?

The shower head that connects to the filter, I believe, has a smaller connection than your hand-held shower head.

The chlorine was not removed as promised
3/5

This shower filter didn't work as well as it should have. It didn't remove the chlorine; in fact, my chlorine levels were nearly identical with and without the filter. I'm furious because they advertised incorrectly. Anyone who purchases this product should conduct their own chlorine tests to determine how well it is working. Also, test it in hot water, as if you were going to take a shower.

Aquasana 4100 and Aquabliss SF220 were compared
3/5

What I discovered is as follows: Hello, Fellow Shower Shoppers,br>br>I recently moved and was looking for a replacement for my beloved TerraSpa shower filter from years ago, in order to eliminate the nasty chlorine from my life (I use a PUR filter for my drinking water). TerraSpa appears to have vanished, so the hunt has begun again. After reading numerous reviews and ratings (both on and off Amazon) on these two products, Aquabliss and Aquasana, I ordered both and installed one in each bathroom shower to compare. Here's what I discovered based on my own personal preferences and experiences. br>br>THE UNITSbr>Aquasana is a hefty creature with a large visual presence and a weight of about 3 pounds. At 1, the Aquabliss is roughly half that. They are both 6 pounds and much shorter and less visually intrusive, and they both use excellent multi-tasking abilities. The KDF-filter is the workhorse in both stages of filtration. On top of that, Aquabliss adds calcium sulfite and activated carbon, whereas Aquasana uses coconut carbon as their "secret sauce. " "br>br>INSTALLATIONbr>Like all shower attachments, they both require Teflon tape (which is super easy). The Aquabliss does not require a wrench because it tightens by hand. The Aquasana will necessitate the use of a wrench. To get rid of the extra carbon (the gunky black stuff), you'll need to flush both of them. Any filter like this should be flushed for about 2 minutes on cold, then at least 2 minutes on hot, and the shut off/turn on with the water should be done at least three times, as it is the initial rush of water that needs to be clear before use. br>br>I discovered that one significant design difference is that with the Aquabliss, you can use any shower head you want because of its straight design, which has no bearing on your choice. The Aquasana, on the other hand, comes with its own shower head, which is nice and adjustable but not waterproof. Negotiable is a word used to describe a situation that is open to discussion. I tried to use my old Moen shower head with the Aquasana, but the design prevents it. If you are concerned about this, it could be a deal breaker right away. br>br>EFFECTIVENESSbr>In terms of chlorine smells, they are comparable in terms of reduction, but the Aquabliss seemed fainter and cleaner smelling to my ridiculously sensitive nose. I then showered with both, using the same shampoos/soaps, at the same temperatures, and with the same water pressure. As we all know, pool and strip tests aren't very useful for shower filters, so I wasn't going to waste my (or your) time going there. So here's what I came up with. br>br> Because the feel and materials are similar, but the Aquabliss smells better to me, it comes down to price, ease of installation, and shower head flexibility. Aquasana replacement filters are $52 here, which is more expensive than the original unit. You're also replacing the majority of the unit's base. Aquabliss is a $15 filter that only needs to be replaced on the inside. br>br>Aquabliss comes out on top, at least for my purposes. br>br>I hope this aids you in better understanding your options.

On the sink water, we used hard water strips, followed by filter water. It's the same as before- There isn't any distinction. This item will be returned to us.

It's overpriced and ineffective! This is a sham, a complete piece of garbage knock-off
3/5

off. I'm going back to my Culligan showerhead and filters because they actually work, and I'm convinced the positive reviews are either clueless people who don't pay attention or paid/compensated reviewers who aren't being honest. I tried it in the hopes of getting better filtration or a longer life, but it turned out to be a waste of time.

The left test strip contains regular tap water, while the right test strip contains distilled water
3/5

Regular tap water is on the left, while the aquasana shower head is on the right. After letting the shower head run for a few days, I used test strips to determine the level of contamination. It doesn't make a difference; the chemicals haven't stopped burning my eyes.

Water company measured before and after to see if it filters any 'chlorine
3/5

' This does not block any chlorine, as far as I can tell. My water company measured the levels in my water before and after the treatment, and the results were nearly identical. The levels are still extremely low, and the stench is unbearable. This filter had no effect at all. br>br>I gave it two stars instead of one because I didn't double-check the before and after of anything else it was supposed to filter. Having said that, does anyone know of a chlorine filter?.

It is making an effort, but at what cost? br>br>Introductionbr>br>When I first bought my Aquasana AQ-100, I was overjoyed
4/5

Over a year ago, there were 4100 people in the country. Despite the fact that many people questioned whether or not this filter actually removes chlorine, I did notice a difference in the quality of my shower water. Overall, I'm pleased with the product and how it performs. When you live in a pre-war house, you have to be prepared for anything. This filter is required to prevent the years of building particles in the water from contaminating the water in NYC's World Trade Center. My hair and skin are hydrated, and I have a much cleaner feeling. After a few showers, my towel would develop foul odors, but not any longer! My shower is cleaner and smells better. There are numerous advantages to using a shower filter, and I strongly advise others to do so. br>br>Comparisonbr>br>In terms of pressure and water quality, this filter easily outperformed dozens of other shower filters I've tried. It felt like there was no difference between connecting a shower head directly to the water and the pressure. Those "multi-tasking" individuals Filters in the "stage" system quickly clogged, resulting in little or no water pressure. Every month or so, I would replace them. I prefer higher pressure because it feels like the dirt is being blasted away and I am feeling much cleaner. This filter lasted between four and six months. br>br>Unfortunately, this is not the case. br>br>With this filter, things will eventually get ugly. After about the fifth month, I notice a significant drop in water pressure and brown water spewing for a few seconds every time I turn on the shower. This is your notification that it's time to replace the item. When you realize that replacement filters are the same price as complete replacement units, you'll be surprised. Every six months, you'll find yourself in a never-ending cycle of purchasing a new shower filter and head due to the absurd pricing. This does make the company appear to be extremely greedy. br>br>Not to mention the fact that you will need to purchase your own plumber's tape because none is included. br>br>It would be nice if this or another company included return labels for old filters to be recycled. Now I have a couple of used ones that I'll have to get rid of. They'd probably be resold if they were refurbished.
