Questions & Answers

What sets this apart from a lacrosse ball?

It isn't nearly as difficult as a lacrosse ball.

Which size is appropriate for the back of the neck, as well as the release of scalenes and muscles that attach to the skull, occiputs?

I believe it is due to the smaller size.

Why did you go with the MBX instead of the MB1?

I'd recommend starting with the MB1 if you're new to myofacial release (also known as foam rolling). The MBX, which I own, is much more firm. It's not quite softball, but it's a lot more difficult to hit than a tennis ball. In terms of firmness, I'm guessing the MB1 is more like a tennis ball than a baseball, whereas the MBX is more like a softball. br>br>As a side note, I had originally bought the 2. I purchased the 6" size, but it was too small for my needs. The 2. The larger size is best for glutes, calves, chest, and upper back muscles, while the smaller size is best for glutes, calves, chest, and upper back muscles.

What is the difference between the regular and extra firm balls in terms of density?

I'm not sure how to respond in a quantifiable way, but I found the regular to be too soft for me. The firm one has a low compression level, allowing me to work out knots and kinks in my arms (tennis elbow) and neck/shoulders.

Selected User Reviews For TriggerPoint Foam Massage Ball for Deep-Tissue Massage

Absolutely fantastic! My son works as a high-rise window washer and also practices Brazilian jiu jitsu, so he is constantly hunched over, whether it's from his harness pulling his shoulders down for 8 hours a day or from grappling at the gym
5/5

Needless to say, his posture is terrible for a 26-year-old as a result of it, and he's always in pain, whether it's in his back or shoulders. Why take medication that doesn't work? Heating pads never work, nsaids are a waste of pills that do nothing, so why take medication that doesn't work? He receives this in the mail and immediately begins rolling around the problem areas, ostensibly in pain, but actually massaging deep into the tissue. Unlike a foam roller, it can target specific areas, and he can pinpoint problem areas for massage. It can also reach hard-to-reach areas that regular foam rollers can't, such as your upper biceps and traps. After a 20-minute massage, the areas are ready to be used. While his muscle pains were not completely gone when he stood up, they had been significantly reduced! And this is only after the initial application. He's really looking forward to continuing to use it because it's only going to get better from here. I apologize for the lengthy review, but I strongly recommend this product to anyone who suffers from muscle pain. It will undoubtedly be of great assistance.

Within six months, the garbage will be thrown away
3/5

When it first arrived, this was a fantastic roller ball. It was firm but not too hard, and after about 4 months of using it 4 or 5 times a week, I noticed that the outside layer had separated from the ball inside, but it still functioned well. After a few months, the outer layer began to break down one morning, and white powder began to spill out all over the place. My last TP ball lasted for years. 6 months for this one. It's simply not worth it at the price.

There isn't a single thing that makes me happy
3/5

It's lighter to travel with than a lacrosse ball, and it's gentler on beginners' trigger points. This is an excellent first step in the process of releasing the trigger point. A lacrosse ball, on the other hand, goes deeper because it is firmer, which means it is more painful, but the results are far more satisfying. This softer ball will disappoint you if you are used to a lacrosse ball.

Amazing
5/5

Educating yourself on triggerpoints and using this ball to release those knots can make a huge difference in your quality of life. I have the regular density ball as well, but I became accustomed to its softness, so I upgraded to this firm one; no pain, no gain, and it is a pleasant pain. It hurts so much. br>br>One amazing thing is that while sitting in my computer chair, I accidentally crushed this ball by rolling the seat wheels and arms onto it, crushing it and causing a nasty fissure. It was no longer a perfectly shaped ball, but after about a week, the ball actually reformed itself back to a perfectly shaped ball. I think the material they're using is incredible. A+++.

I went to the Ex- The advice from my husband was PERFECT! A trigger point in my back has been giving me a lot of trouble
5/5

It got to the point where my husband, an orthopedic physician assistant, was injecting it with cortisone. This provides short-term relief, but it isn't a long-term solution. a long-term solution My EX- The king of researching anything and everything (LOL) is my husband. He told me to order this foam massage ball after I mentioned it to him while he was working out in my garage with our son. It arrived yesterday, and I can't believe the solution was so simple, natural, and affordable; I've already noticed a difference after only one day. Don't be hesitant to give it a shot!.

Although it is the best available, it still has significant flaws
4/5

First and foremost, this is the best massage ball for shoulder, back, and glute massage. Every single one of them has been tried by me. Tennis balls are typically too soft for most applications, whereas lacrosse balls are typically too hard. This ball is *just right* in terms of hardness and size. And, for whatever reason, no other brand appears to sell individual massage balls of this consistency and size. br>br>However, there is one major flaw with this ball: the hard walnut-like surface. The outer foam layer isn't completely glued to the sized core. It's only glued in one place, so the more you use it, the more the foam will stretch and pull away from the glued spot, separating it from the inner core. Then, with continued use, the foam will begin to tear. If you use this ball for 10 minutes every day, you should expect to have to replace it every three months or so. If a massage saves your life, then spending $15 on a ball four times a year isn't the end of the world. However, it is aggravating because there is no reason for it - There would be no problem if they simply adhered the inner core to the foam on all sides. It'd be good for a long time. br>br>Another minor quibble is that the multi-player mode isn't available in the game. Different densities of foam cause color bands, so the black circles are softer than the green part; this is advertised as a feature, but it's stupid - Nobody puts this along their back where they can *see* it and choose which part of the ball to press against; plus, you're rolling along it anyway, so you'll come across every part. It's pointless to have different foam density levels. br>br>So, if you're listening, TriggerPoint, please make a new ball that is *fully glued* to the core and uses only one density of foam!.

MB5! Massages the glutes and the area around the TFL very effectively
5/5

A true lifesaver! I have both the TP MB1 and the TP MBX, both of which have been extremely beneficial to me. However, due to severe pain, I have been unable to work on my glutes, which has slowed my progress. In a single self-massage, the MB5 altered everything. After more than a month, the cramp in my buttocks has finally gone away, and I can walk normally again, something I haven't been able to do in a month. MB5 has performed admirably in all of the areas in which I have used it. You will receive quality regardless of which of these balls you purchase. The LaCrosse ball is far too hard, and the tennis ball is useless.

The most effective piriformis trigger point massage
5/5

For my piriformis syndrome pain, I've tried a variety of foam rollers, but this one is by far my favorite; it works better than a tennis ball and is also portable! It's perfect for those times when I've been sitting for too long and need a break (I've been known to use it in a chair during long school lectures or even in the car!). Because a hard floor will flatten it out, I would recommend using it on carpet. If you have a tight piriformis muscle that is causing shooting sciatic pain down the outside of your leg, this is the product for you! It hurts a lot when you use it, but it makes you feel a lot better afterwards.
