Having said that, both the OEM band and these replacements are the result of Fitbit's poor product design. The four small screws that hold the OEM band to the watch tear it apart at one point. Although Fitbit claims that the bands cannot be replaced, these bands are a good substitute. They come in a variety of colors, and you get two color bands for the price of one, which is a great deal. The included torx screwdriver and plastic pry tool make it simple to install the bands. In the old band, be sure to look for and retrieve the small bluetooth antenna, which is a small adhesive sticker that you'll need to reuse in the new bands. I'm hoping they'll hold up, but only time will tell. Even if Fitbit says it can't be done, Fitbit Surge owners have the option of replacing their own bands. We are well aware of the situation.
I purchased this item to replace my original Fitbit band, which was rotting my wrist. The problem that the original band caused was not caused by the new band. The most recent band appears to be a bit unique. The material is not as flexible as the one I purchased previously - Putting it on and taking it off is a challenge. It still doesn't rot my wrist, and it wouldn't fit completely onto the watch, so there's a small gap between the watch and the band on one side - It's a little irritating. However, installation is a breeze. (I gave this band a 5 because I thought it was similar to the last one I bought. ).
I've replaced my strap before, but this one doesn't fit as snugly on the Fitbit as the previous one did. Have you noticed the photo's huge gap? That was after all of the screws had been tightened and the installation was complete. I'm sure it'll be comfortable because the strap is softer than the one I had before, but I won't be able to say for sure.
This Surge replacement band was a perfect fit for my watch. The tools that were provided were excellent. Because the screws are so small (a Surge issue, not a replacement band issue), you'll probably spend more time aligning them with the hole than doing anything else. This is an excellent product.
Only one band needs to be adjusted. As depicted in the image. The opposing team fought tooth and nail to gain access. I even used a knife to shave off as much plastic as possible from one side of the watch before getting screws on the back and filling in the large gap on top with apoxy. It doesn't matter to me how I look. My Fitbit GPS is great, and it's a lot less expensive than buying a new watch. There was a warning about a gap in other reviews. This is not the place for you if you want a perfect glove fit.
I'm waiting for a response from the manufacturer on this issue.
The worst part is that the replacement screws will rust over time, but aside from that, it's a good value for money.
