The fact that someone make preservative-free saline solution is a blessing. Until I used a new contact cleaning solution that my optometrist was kind enough to give me as a sample, I never had a problem with my eyes or contacts. A reaction to the solution left me in damage control mode with an inflamed eye and brought me to the Optometrist's Office. In spite of two rounds of steroids, it healed eventually, but I have not been able to wear a contact solution for the past year. With the approval of my eye doctor, I use this to put my contacts in my eyes at night and to store them while I sleep. In the future, this should be available and it is a godsend so far. It is sometimes useful to use peroxide solution to clean my contacts, but I prefer this one more.
Aside from dry eye, I have corneal abrasions due to my severe dry eye. In addition to wearing contact lenses while using my complicated treatment plan, I am able to keep my eyes moist at all times throughout the day and night. Since my eyes are very sensitive, I ought to work with a saline solution that does not contain preservatives. My previous method of eye care was just to use simple saline drops. I can't begin to tell you what a huge difference this makes! As far as I know, this is the only saline solution on the market that is free of preservatives.
