Questions & Answers

What are the options for removing the entire footrest?

There is an option to remove the footrests. It is impressive how sturdy the chair is, as well as how portable it is. Even though I weigh 100 lbs, I am able to get the chair in and out of the trunk so that I can take my 180 lb spouse to his doctors.

The armrests are too high for someone short. Looked at one and said, "For someone who is 5'8" them being up would be too much. How tall is the seat?

I miss my mom a lot My mother-in-law is a small lady, about 5 feet tall, and she does not have any trouble seated in a transport chair.

When calculating the wheel base, how much width is required? There is a 23" wide opening in the bathroom door. How wide is it ?

23 1/4" wide is the largest part of it at the handbrakes. In total, the size is 22 1/2" if you fold down the handles. It passes through most openings in modern homes without a problem. If your doorways are narrow, you may be able to gain an inch by installing offset door hinges, as I did in a mobile home.

It was a normal use product that was faulty, and the company didn't honor the In the beginning, I hoped that this chair would serve my partly mobile handicapped child, who weighs less than 100 pounds, a few basic transportation needs
3/5

As a result, we never experienced locking rear wheels because the 'locking brakes' never worked. Even so, it was a simple and lightweight chair that fulfilled an obvious There is a critical weakness, however, with the handles - they fold up. It splits at the point where the handles fold after a few months of normal use. There is not enough strength in the metal tubing. I would prefer if the tubes didn't fold and were made of one piece. In a short time, the chair was rendered useless. In order to obtain warranty consideration from Medline, I sent pictures and a description of the break since the frame was claimed to be covered by the warranty. I had a bit of run-around to do The customer service agents who spoke with me over the phone and sent me an email assured me a replacement would be sent. I have yet to receive a response to my request or have my emails or phone calls returned four months after I made them. It is suggested that you do not purchase this product from Medline and be skeptical of the service they provide.

In response to my question "Why should I have to pay for THEIR poor quality assurance," I was transferred to three customer service representatives
3/5

When I bought my 1989, it came with a In the year My mother used this transport chair before surgery since she was going to be hospitalized. A light weight was one of the main reasons I chose it. In spite of every effort, I could not get the back or handles to collapse after the surgery. Despite repeated tries, the nurse was unable to help me, and the release button broke in my hand! I returned the chair to Amazon to get Although the replacement came, it was unable to roll due to the brake arms touching the wheels on each side. When my husband called Medline to ask what he should do, the person on the other end instructed him to take a wheelchair to a repair shop. In the end, we did as instructed and the repairman nodded as he said, "Medline is the cheapest and poorest in quality of all manufacturers. ". As needed, he repaired the chair and made adjustments but had to charge his clients My call to Medline to ask for reimbursement of my repair costs was not answered because we had not filed a formal complaint and we had not asked for permission first to repair the machine. In fact, I was contacted by three customer service representatives, and when I asked them why I should be liable for their poor quality assurance and workmanship, they reluctantly agreed to reimburse me, but only if I completed the formal complaint form and filled out After being on the phone for more than an hour, I needed to take a break As my time was more valuable, I felt I should work for an hour and a half. It would be convenient to email a photocopy of my receipt, but I did not want to spend yet MORE time on their poor product. I felt that writing this deservedly poor review would be more beneficial to them.

The original text was updated with information concerning the death of the clickdown brakes after 6 weeks
5/5

It has been six weeks since I published my original review of the "click down brakes died after six weeks. ". I have since reached out directly to Medline. Long story short, the Medline folks were able to provide a replacement wheelchair, which was provided free of charge, for my mom. In the event that the product is defective, we will return it The Medline return label is provided free of charge, thanks to the company's ability to provide free return shipping labels. As a whole, the wheelchair replacement is working well My thank you to Medline for all the assistance, since I live in a different state my family lives in the same state. In a nutshell, this is what the headline says Almost 6 weeks after they were installed, the brakes stopped working! It is a real shame and a disgrace that something like that has happened after so little time. Our 3 purchases so far were a big help The other is for those who don't The mom is a mobile worker in a city apartment, where she is only residing since the people in the house have moved A couple purchased 2 of these for their out-of-state home The one upstairs is for the upstairs and the one downstairs is for the As for the first one, it is as follows The brakes in the vehicle were no longer functional upon receipt on April 24th, 2020! IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO? It is a hope that something can be done for the brakes that malfunctioned after spending almost $400 for all 3. Hopefully the second one, received May 13th, 2020, will not follow the same trend. I would appreciate any advice you can offer. I appreciate your kind words.

The product is easy to use, but the safety measures must be modified for it to be safe
3/5

While it is common for me to use a standard wheelchair inside the house, it has been used to transport my wife to and from the car and to go shopping with her. Lightweight and easy to fold and fold, the bag can easily be moved in the trunk and Pushing the hand brakes down locks them, and you can set the wheel brakes on the back wheel if necessary. There are two reasons why I gave it a 3 rather than a 5. There were times when the material of the armrests split at the sides and had to be glued back together. A more serious reason arose from the second reason. A chair's handles can rotate downward so they can be more compactly stored when not in use. I had problems with the lock on each of the wheel cylinders and the handles tended to move downward if I pushed down too hard on them, for instance, when I lifted the front wheels to cross over a curb or get As a solution to the problem, I used a nut and bolt on each side to keep the handles on top.

A short lifespan was experienced by the material
3/5

We were unfortunate enough to break the wheelchair at the joint between the handle and the arm. When it was out, it was a beautiful thing but now it's no longer useful. On September 14, 2016, we discovered it had broken just months after we bought it in July.

It is a flawed design and poorly constructed chair handle
3/5

There was a problem with one of the handles. There were several bad welds in the design. Upon calling Med Line, they told me to dispose of the chair and that a new one would be delivered. That sounded way too good to be true to me. There has been no communication since the new chair was supposed to have been delivered You receive emails. Even though my chair was cheaper than one I bought at Walgreens, that one was still more durable and the design was better.

Chair that is perfect for transportation
5/5

This chair is perfect. The chair is not a wheel chair, but rather a transport Unlike a standard wheelchair, a transport chair is propelled by someone else. A smaller wheel is on the back of the car. Wheelchairs are those with larger wheels on the back and one that has a metal ring around the wheels to make it so the person sitting on it can maneuver along on his or her This is an excellent chair I bought for my mother and it is extremely light weight and easy to fold down and carry in a car trunk. To make transportation easier, the leg piece and handle can be folded. A very smooth ride is provided by the wheels. In any case, I do not have any complaints.
