The metal cap protects the rubber from being cut by the cane. These outlast the originals by a long shot. The tip is wider, which also improves grip.

I'm not sure how well this tip will wear, but I don't mind because it's so much quieter than the other tips I've tried. It sounds as if I'm walking on carpet when I'm on hard surfaces. br>br>I'm going to change my 5-star review to a 2-star review. But, like a bald tire, its tip had become dangerously worn; I needed a new tip right away, so I went to CVS and bought one off an end-of-the-line. Display in the aisles. BAD idea! My cane felt squishy as it hit the ground thanks to the CVS tip - As I walked, I didn't feel safe in the least. So . I finally did what I should have done all along. Wow is huge and big and for the first time I could honestly say that I finally found a good and strong cane tip for heavy users like me, I use my cane for every step I take and under lots of rough floors and surfaces and the ones I normally purchase at a local pharmacy don't last me very long and are expensive to have to buy a tip every week, so I looked on the internet and purchased many different kinds looking for a really big and strong cane tip that could withstand the abuse I put it through Med.
And I only use the cane once or twice a day when I leave the house. I walk around the house with a walker. I strongly advise you to take a look at the other options available to you. I will!.
I was lucky if they lasted a week, and I don't do much walking outdoors. There aren't many rough surfaces because it's mostly in my backyard. The last one I put on my cane on Tuesday evening, and the washer had broken through and fallen out by Sunday morning. I'm not going to buy any more of them.
My ambitious dog walking resulted in the metal cane shaft working its way all the way through the rubber tip of my cane, causing it to make noise as it hit the ground, so I ordered these. I'm hoping that the metal inserts in these new tips will help to prevent this. It's too early to tell how long they'll last.
I purchased it for another purpose. My dog is quite large, and the bottom rubber on his bed is constantly worn out. These were purchased to serve as legs for his dog bed, and they are fantastic! They keep the bed in place, and he jumps on it more often because it stays in place.
