Because of a severe leg injury sustained in a car accident, I've been on crutches for nearly three decades. My most recent surgery necessitated a complete absence from work. I decided to replace my hand grips with these after a six-month weight-bearing period. These have made me very happy! For at least ten years, I've used Fetterman poron grips on my forearm crutches, but for some reason, I've never used them on my underarm crutches. I'm so glad I changed my mind! These are, hands down, the most comfortable crutch hand grips I've ever used. They are easy to sanitize and provide excellent cushioning and support. I occasionally wish the handgrip was not so smooth to prevent slipping, but I have yet to experience this problem, even when my hands perspire; on the other hand, a smooth surface aids in disinfecting and preventing callouses, both of which are important. br>br>Foam grips must be replaced on a regular basis because they shred over time and become too dirty to clean. I haven't had that problem with the poron grips on my forearm crutches, and I expect them to last a long time. br>br>These took a little tugging to get on because there is an edge that runs along the gap between the upright post and the grip, but compared to having to buy and replace the cheap foam ones on a regular basis, I'm glad I took the extra time. br>br>With these, you can't go wrong. I also recommend the Fetterman Tornado gel crutch tips, which come in two styles: rain and regular. They'll last as long as the hand grips do. Investing in this product is definitely a good idea!.
For more than three years, I was on crutches due to a broken femur. I tried a lot of different hand grips and crutch tips before I found Fetterman. My calluses and hand pain went away after I put these grips on my crutches, and they're still on the crutches in the corner, looking as good as the day I bought them. They made my last year and a half on crutches a lot easier when combined with the Fetterman Tornado Tips.
I just got my Poron crutch hand grips and I'm very happy with them. They have an excellent grip that is neither too hard nor too soft. Also, the vinyl coating isn't as sticky as it appears to be. Attaching it to crutches was a breeze.
I purchased these directly from Fetterman's website, and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. They're a lot more comfortable than the standard foam grips that come with crutches. They're made of a much better material and fit better than standard grips. Since putting these in, I've noticed a decrease in "sensation" in my hands. These are well worth the money if you'll be using crutches for a long time.
My husband has been on crutches for 16 years, and I've always despised how the standard handgrips shed and got all over his hands, as well as the refrigerator and door handles. I came across these and suggested he give them a try. They are a hit with him! They don't shed anymore and they last a long time!! He's had that dirt set for a year and it's still in perfect condition. To clean them, we used alcohol wipes, but plain water would suffice.
I don't think they're a perfect fit for my hands, but they're breaking in nicely (I've only had them for a week). It's far superior to the foam grips.
The most comfortable crutch hand grips ever. They've been in my possession for about a year and still look brand new!.
They're great; at first, they appear to be difficult, but once you get used to them, they're fantastic.
