It has an 8-inch diameter and a 1-inch high scooped edge. The scooped edge extends over the fork or spoon to assist in pushing the food onto it.
The product was not manufactured in the United States; rather, it was manufactured in Taiwan.

Although it appears to be small, it can hold quite a bit. Plate the'messier' foods (rice, diced veggies, niblets, etc. ) toward the 'overhang' to help the eater load their spoon/fork, then watch 'when they begin eating so you can tell where that overhang will be most helpful, and rotate the dish accordinglybr>(Example: My brother has a habit of moving his spoon around from 11 a. m. to 11 p. m. 00 to 5 a. m. : 00 to scoop his food, so I position this dish so that the overhang is closest to his chest but slightly off-center.
She can eat without the food sliding off her plate. You can lick it and grab it as it approaches the plate's edge. If not, it will slide off the plates and onto the floor. I have a lot of them, so I don't have to wash them after every meal. I don't microwave these plates, but I do put them in the dishwasher without a problem, and my older plates look just as good as my new plates and have held up well.
This is ideal for my husband, who has limited use of his left hand and none at all of his right. He's able to eat better on his own now, and it happened quickly.
to "push" her food onto her fork, as if she were a child. She has Parkinson's disease with movement problems and is suffering from shingles in her dominant hand and arm. and this cute little plate ring has enabled her to eat 75% more on her own. In my opinion, that is a huge step forward.
This was purchased for my father, who had begun to have difficulty eating with both hands. one to scoop the food while the other holds the plate He was able to eat independently as a result of this. It was nice to have him be a little more self-sufficient and not have the food fall off his plate as he ate. The plate remained stationary on the table and did not slide. Perhaps a different story, with a table made of various materials.
This plate was perfect for my mother-in-law-in-law-in-law-in-law-in law. For nearly a month, we ate it at every meal. It worked well on the table and in her lap when she just wanted to eat dessert with the rest of the family in front of the television. It worked well with items that had a bit of a sauce on them because of the curved edges. Even when something was a little greasier, it cleaned up nicely with hand washing and never got stained from tomato sauce when reheating something in the microwave. This was crucial because she eats more slowly than the average person. The only thing I can't say for sure is how well it will hold up in the dishwasher, as we prefer to hand-wash everything. She took it home with her after a month of use and has been using it for the past year. I'm currently on the lookout for a new one for her to use when she visits soon.
Fantastic dish that is especially beneficial to those who have difficulty eating or with their eyesight.
