Questions & Answers

5 inches (which appears to be WAY TOO LONG considering my seat is 14" x 15"). 5"), and I've never seen anything so tiny)? Now what?

My original seat measured 17 1/2 inches from front to back, so I ordered the elongated seat. I believe you have a standard toilet seat; if you order the standard, I believe you will be fine; I believe the measurements in the ad are a little off. The mounting piece is about 3 inches wide, so my seat is only 19 inches long from the mounting piece to the front. I hope this has been of assistance. It appeals to me.

Is this suitable for toilets that are a little longer?

My seat was more round than elongated, and it was a perfect fit for it. It has a total length of 17 inches from back to front. It's 25 inches long and 14 inches wide, and I had to buy a new seat because the one I had didn't have long bolt openings. I recently purchased a toilet seat with holes in the back that allow the bolts to pass all the way through. I have to tighten the bolts every now and then, but that would not be an issue if I had some locking bolts. The product is performing admirably. I hope you find this information useful. Cleaning does not bother me in the least.

Is it required to use the original seat and lid?

Do you need a regular seat/lid if you're asking? You are not required to have a lid if you do not want one. I just put one in yesterday, but I like having a lid to prevent my animals from drinking the water! UPDATE: 3/12/15: The regular seat was unoccupied (due to the fact that it was late at night). I didn't turn on the light, and I almost fell in when I sat on the riser! You'd be better off installing the toilet seat unless you have a big butt!

What is the width and distance between the holes in the part of the seat with the holes?

The bolt slots are oblong/oval in shape. On both sides, the riser is about 3" long from edge to center. You'll have plenty of room to place your bolts this way. As a result, it makes no difference where your toilet's holes are.

Selected User Reviews For Maddak Hinged Elevated Toilet Seat, Standard (725711000), White

I never imagined myself writing a review about a toilet seat riser when I was a young woman, but here I am
5/5

I was looking for a solution after moving into a new apartment with a toilet that looked like it was made for toddlers. I needed a riser, but because of my background as an interior designer, I wanted one that was attractive and didn't detract from the toilet's appearance. With a height of 3 inches, this riser was ideal. My knees were relieved of stress as a result of using it. I've already recommended it to a few of my design clients who have recently undergone hip or knee replacement surgery. It is well worth your money.

It's simple to put together and takes the pain out of sitting and standing
5/5

I've found that having an elevated toilet seat has been extremely beneficial to me. For me, the majority of toilets are too low. especially after being rear-ended in a car accident and suffering from spinal whiplash. I have severe knee, hip, and back problems, so that extra 3 inches relieves extra strain while sitting and getting up from the toilet. I wish the toilets were not so low when I go out in public. Even if there are no injuries, it is a cause for concern. Anyone would benefit from this. It was also incredibly simple to install, and I'm grateful for the metal hardware because our previous toilet seat was plastic and never stayed tight. For the rest of our bathrooms, I'm going to purchase elevated toilet seats.

BUT, it works well
4/5

To begin with, this is a well-made product that performs as expected. It raises the seat's effective height by 3 inches, which makes a huge difference for those who find it difficult to sit down. br>It's easy to put together (but read the BUT) and usually doesn't require any tools (though a tool to spin the butterfly nuts wouldn't hurt either). br>OK. . . br>BUT. . . br>The kit comes with two long bolts that connect a standard round toilet seat to the riser and the toilet. As a result, these long bolts will be used to replace the shorter bolts that normally connect the standard toilet seat to the toilet. The issue is that standard short bolts aren't used on all toilet seats. Some seats have decorative hinges that attach differently (though there don't appear to be many of them), and others are "easy clean" or "quick release" seats that latch onto bolts with a special head. There appear to be quite a few of these on the market. My previous toilet seat was a model that was "easy to clean. " I would have needed long bolts with the latching head to use this riser with that seat, and as far as I can tell, none are long enough. Because we only needed it for a short time to accommodate post-surgery needs, I decided to buy a cheap standard toilet lid with standard bolts. br>Five stars for functionality, one star deducted for discovering the hard way that it won't work with a certain percentage of today's toilet seats.

It's not perfect, but it's better than anything else I've seen
5/5

Other reviews stated that the urine guard, as seen in the photos, was not present. The manufacturer must have been paying attention. It's come back! Only the following are my recommendations: (1) Stainless steel bolts, nuts, and other fasteners should be used. I don't believe they are, and I didn't take the time to test them before putting them in. (2) Although it hasn't yet caused a problem, the slots appear to be less strong and stable than a bolt hole. (3) While it may pose a problem when installing multiple toilet brands, it would be nice if the urine guard could be extended all the way around. Overall, after only a week of use, it appears to be everything it claims to be. I can't imagine buying anything else, and I did my homework before purchasing this one.

It is both appropriate and effective
5/5

This is our second attempt at using a toilet seat riser. The first was a clamp-on design. This is a far superior version. It is simple to apply. It has no effect on the size of the opening in the toilet bowl. Because you have your own seat, it is safer and more comfortable. It can be cleaned easily by flipping it up, and if a man or boy wants to stand, he can flip it out of the way and use it as a regular toilet with the seat up.
Pros- Fits snugly, flips out of the way easily, does not reduce bowl size, is simple to use, and comfortable.
Cons- There were no side handles, but we didn't need them in our situation. br>Instead of the clamp-on style, I recommend this riser seat.

THIS IS THE ONE TO GET OUT OF ALL THE RISERS
5/5

I say this because Steel Steel Steel makes me happy! br>br>I'm so sick of toilet seats and accessories with PLASTIC fittings arriving. br>br>Ableware does not show or mention the high-quality hardware that distinguishes this item, so I've included photos of the nut and bolts that come with it. The sturdy bolts are made of metal, and the wing nut is also made of metal. What a difference that makes in terms of installation. br>br> br>br>Threaded plastic does not allow for smooth, quick nut twirling. Plastic bolts are prone to bending and snapping. Bolts like these are almost impossible to come by. br>br>The Wing Nut is absolutely divine; I never thought I'd be so happy to see a metal object. The WING provides a point of contact where the plastic nuts do not. Many toilets are located in cramped spaces and are not located on a convenient chest-high work bench where you can easily inspect their underside. I have no idea what manufacturers of toilet accessories are thinking. br>br>My toilet even has a lip on the exterior rear side rim, making it impossible to reach in with a crescent wrench. Trying to grip the tiny little flanges on plastic nuts [some so flimsy you can break them by squeezing] makes my fingers just give way, especially when my hand is in that palm up contorted under something position. br>br>On the other hand, Ableware provides you with a massive leather-like washer that fits against the bottom of the exterior bowl (something I've never seen before). It resembles a small plate in appearance. This leathery thing is covered by the wing nut. Then I did something strange: I put the wing on backwards. The wing nut is stopped by the bowl's roundness, and this large washer protects the china by holding the nut so tightly that it can be tightened with ONE HAND from the top with a screwdriver. br>    & ONE HAND! I'll say it again: ONE HAND! br>br>Well, I've never done that! br>br>I'm head over heels for these people (Ableware). br>br>With my massive Wera driver, I slammed the big bolts shut.
