DOESN'T WORK IN THIS SITUATION. Firmware that is no longer supported. I purchased four of these and have had nothing but issues with Google Assistant. Getting rid of them and switching to a different brand. Even now, their app is unable to communicate with my lights in order to update the firmware. I should have returned these for a refund because they were dreadful. They're a waste of money; the generics I purchased are far superior. br>br>THESE SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.
I only needed a bulb to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise, and because the wiring is pulled from an outlet (there is no switch), I figured a wifi bulb would be the best option. I used to have a Belkin Wemo system, but after moving a few times (and struggling with receivers), I decided to look for a bulb that could work on its own. This GE version is perfect; the app is easy to use, the scheduling is simple, and the light is bright enough to illuminate the driveway. It's obviously not a flood lamp, so don't expect anything spectacular. I also chose GE because it is a well-known brand in the United States, and I can contact tech support or request a refund if necessary. I'm pleased with the purchase in general. br>br>****Update 2/7/2021***

br>****Update 2/7/2021* Would recommend doing the same (Google Home app allows you to turn things on and off as well as set up routines).
I went through three orders, each of which contained two bulbs.
- Two bulbs were faulty (did not turn on or flickered)br> - After three weeks, one bulb began to flickerbr> - The rest worked fine for about a month before suddenly changing colors and brightness (even though they were all set to the same room / color). br>br>Do not purchase this defective product.
I tried for a long time to get the bulbs to work with Alexa but had no luck. The instructions that come with the package are completely ineffective. I finally gave up and returned the item because I didn't want to waste any more time. They must work for some people, based on all the positive feedback. The instructions and the "C by GE" app are not easy to understand.
I bought another brand because it was a great deal, but it was Ohlux, which I had never heard of before. They were unable to communicate - nothing! I ordered these bulbs from General Electric within five minutes of admitting failure with those. Make sure you don't make the same error I did - Invest in a well-known brand rather than a perceived bargain! br>These GE Bulbs came with their own app that allowed you to customize your favorite'moods. ' For those who are familiar with Alexa skills, this app becomes an enable skill. After you've downloaded the app, go to your Alexa App skill section and enable it. br> I downloaded the GE app, and the bulbs were found in less than 30 minutes. Addition of 40 seconds. If you have color bulbs, like I did, you can experiment with the colors and intensities. I created a few moods that I enjoy, then went into Alexa and set up my routines for them to turn on and off at specific times. br>Investing a little more money in a brand name you're familiar with and has a good reputation is well worth it. Don't be fooled into purchasing an off-brand item solely on the basis of price! It won't always be worth it, I promise!.
We just bought C by GE lights for our bedroom, and the app was replaced by the new Cync app by GE/Savant only a few weeks later. Our bulbs are effectively useless thanks to the new Cync app. br>br>At first, the bulbs worked perfectly for us, and we were so pleased with them that we ordered more for our other bedrooms and throughout our living room. This was an unexpected expense, but we had planned a trip and the ability to turn on and off our lights while traveling across the country was worth it to us. Being able to turn our lights on and off while away seemed like a great additional deterrent to any suspicious activity at our home, especially since we live in a neighborhood close to a downtown with the occasional vandalism or larceny. We also had a few visitors while we were gone, and the C by GE lights and app enabled us to turn on the lights for them before they arrived. br>br>The lights worked so well, and the app was so simple to use, that I even recommended them to my elderly parents. That was a huge blunder. The app was then replaced with Cync, and we haven't had a single day where these lights haven't been an issue. br>br>Each day, they are disconnected from WiFi more than they are connected for no apparent reason. Want to turn on or off your lights while you're not at home? Good luck with that, because even if you're at home, these lights aren't working. It's never been a problem with the wifi. Despite this, I have diligently reset the internet, my phone, the app, and removed and re-installed it. I've downloaded the app, factory reset the bulbs, and done everything else imaginable, but these bulbs still don't work with their ineffective new app. The "help" suggestions on GE's websites, like the numerous bulbs I recently purchased, are now useless. Those interested in smart bulbs or other smart home products should consider the following: br>br> Check out the Cync app reviews, believe them, and don't buy any C by GE products until GE/Savant can sort out their hardware Cync app firmware snafu. Customers are blaming the app developers for what is clearly a developer-related issue, and the app developers are having a hard time keeping up. the conclusion of the problem GE's attempt to force everyone into your integrated "smart home" option with Amazon and Google, only to render the product useless for so many customers, is infuriating. Because, man, I'm angry with you for rendering expensive, perfectly good smart bulbs completely useless immediately after I upgraded my regular bulbs and recommended them to my poor, unsuspecting parents and friends, my review and comments are also going up wherever I purchased these bulbs.
I needed to switch out the lights in my room, but I wanted them to be bright white during the day and warm white at night. This light bulb was ideal for my needs. My purchase has made me extremely happy. br>br>These smart lights are simple to set up. It was detected by Google Home once it was turned on, and I simply followed the setup wizard to get it up and running. There are six color temperature presets in the Google Home app, but I can also adjust the temperature in Kelvin by using voice commands (ex: Warm (at 2700K), daylight (at 5600K). The 100% brightness of the bulbs is also extremely bright, so I like to keep it in the 80% brightness range. I'll just set it to 20% to 30% brightness to make the room cozy during the night. br>br>Overall, I am a big fan of these smart lights. If I needed more, I would purchase them again.
