I bought these because I'm old school and prefer spiral-shaped bulbs to the newfangled LED round bulbs. These spiral ones are nearly impossible to come by nowadays, so Amazon came to the rescue. br>br>These are incredibly bright, even brighter than I anticipated. The bulb is smaller than the one I'm replacing, but it produces the same amount of light and fits the socket perfectly. Instead of a soft yellow glow, this bulb emits a bright white light.
Six of these 23-watt CFL bulbs are installed in a 4-foot strip light above my bathroom's large mirror. I don't even cover them with a glass cover because they look so good. On the plus side, it's a work of art that I adore. When I turn on the switch with these energy efficient bulbs, it looks like I'm getting 600 watts of light, but I'm only paying 138 watts on my electric bill. This is fantastic. Some people, I know, enjoy a soft like - Well, I prefer a BRIGHT light, and this is exactly what I'm looking for. 6500 K. Thanks.
I bought these bulbs to use in a seedling humidity dome to grow plants. CFL bulbs work great for this, and the 6500k bulbs have enough lumens to get seedlings started quickly. I usually begin with two bulbs and gradually increase the number as the plants grow and take up more space in the dome. I've been using the same bulbs for a few years, and they've proven to be a good investment. They do, however, break easily, especially when warm, so care must be taken when handling them.
For the time being, I decided to keep it because I only required one bulb. I smelled faint burning plastic within 8 hours of turning on the light. On the base of the bulb, there was a small burnt area. The next morning, I tried a second bulb. It blew out with a loud pop right away. br>br>It's not the lamp because it works fine with an old bulb in the same lamp. Perhaps I was unlucky and received faulty bulbs, or perhaps the two that weren't shattered were still damaged internally. In any case, I'm not going to order these bulbs again.
I bought 'daylight' bulbs in the mistaken belief that they would provide pleasant, natural 'day' lighting. That is not the case. I inserted one and promptly removed it. Don't buy 'daylight' bulbs unless you want to feel like you're back in school waiting for the dismissal bell or sitting in the doctor's office waiting for them to charge you $100 to tell you they have no idea what's wrong with you. Save your time and money. I found another full box of these while searching the house for other bulbs to use, clearly not having learned my lesson the first time, and I can only hope the company changes the item name to 'fluorescent hell' to prevent me from making a repeat purchase. They are given an A for performance. It's a truly immersive experience that makes you wonder what you've done wrong in your life to deserve such a thing.
I ordered two packages, and more than half of them were damaged. br>br>*Update* I've placed three orders for this bulb. Within a few months, they've all burned out.
These bulbs are NOT MICRO MINI, as the description suggests. I am returning them because they are far too large to replace my old micro mini bulbs.
For over a year, I've had one in a lamp that I leave on all the time! The flame is still blazing.
