The spray can be used on washable fabrics, but Scotchgard recommends that you reapply after you wash them.

The product on this image no longer exists on Amazon, so the image needs to be removed. Upon receiving the "Fabric Water Shield", I was asked to let you know how I liked it. A 3M rep told me the company planned to discontinue the Fabric Protector product since environmental concerns had become too great The Water Shield is their replacement product, however it does not protect against liquids like water. In fact, Amazon offered a refund, but you were unable to return the item. It does not exist. Please do not be fooled by the photo on Amazon's website. I asked them to remove it from its site because they are selling it. Thanks a lot.
It has just been a couple days since I sprayed my chairs, so I can't really comment on Although I learned a valuable lesson, I did not lose sight of the objective.
