Questions & Answers
It can be used on any copper material. It's easy to apply and remove. Just a heads up: put on a mask and open the doors because the fumes are extremely strong.
You can spray directly on the chandelier, but I would remove any cleaner with a warm rinse water cloth(s) after it has set for the specified time, and I would spray a small section of the chandelier at a time. I would also be concerned about objects underneath the chandelier- I'd cover the table with a drop cloth. I hope this has been of assistance.
My husband cleans an antique copper fire extinguisher with it, so I'm guessing it's true.
It will work if it is made of brass or copper. I cleaned an entire brass bed frame that had been blackened in a house fire and had been thought to be ruined, but it now looks brand new.

I sprayed the extinguisher (abundantly), waited as directed, then rinsed with water and allowed to dry. Yes, it removed the majority of the buildup, but there were streaks all the way down the extinguisher, and some areas started to oxidize after only 10 minutes of drying. There isn't a single person in this room who is happy. I read somewhere that ketchup could be used to clean copper, so I tried it. It started working as soon as I brushed it on the surface. It removed some of the streaks and greatly improved the appearance of the front brass plate. The next day, I used the cream that came with the kit to polish the extinguisher. With this polishing cream, Flitz, you've earned your keep. All I have to say is WOW! The extinguisher is beautiful; it has removed all streaks and has a fantastic shine! So, next time, I'll polish with the cream but clean with ketchup. It's inexpensive and, most importantly, chemical-free.
I tried to do the portholes on my sailboat gear solid brass and tarnished inside and outside the boat with the price of 16 ounces I figured this would work very well it didn't I did two applications of one porthole tarnish didn't come off I had to use a Dremel and a speed brush to clean them I have not tried them on anything else only the portholes which was the reason I bought them I would not buy them again not put a course of 16 69 $31. The sum of $78 is 95. I'm 64 years old and haven't worked in a long time. What a waste of money!.
If you're cleaning inside, put on a mask because the fumes are extremely potent. It removes years of tarnish with ease. I bought an extremely old copper teakettle that was black with greasy grime, and I tried a powdered cleaner first, but it barely touched it. The greasy grime came right off after I sprayed this on. Not entirely, as I still need to go over a few things, but it's a significant improvement. It was well worth the money. Polish with a microfiber cloth; it really shines and takes the work out of it.
The vendor was exceptional. Excellent customer service and prompt delivery. There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful this item is!.
I used this to restore an antique fire extinguisher, as mentioned in one of the previous reviews. The piece was black and corroded for 50 years before I started. After the Flitz kit and a little elbow grease, that's what I came up with.
My handyman used this product to remove 50 years of tarnish; we could have gotten it cleaner, but we liked the look better with a little tarnish left on. This stuff is effective.
It's great that it's supposed to clean up with just water, no rubbing or brushing required. The brass handles, on the other hand, were 60 years old and covered in tar from cigarette smoke and paste wax buildup.
This item does exactly what it says on the tin. I polished all of my brass pieces to a brilliant shine and then coated them in mineral oil to prevent oxidation.
