I believe that it would be cold enough to cast a fiberglass cast and not a plaster cast. I think that the gel pack needs to be wrapped in a thin towel to prevent the plaster from getting wet as well. Described in the product, it works as it should. Cold packs made from fabric remain cold longer and are too fragile to survive for long periods of time. I have not yet tried them with warm water. Pain relief from headaches is great with these.

wanted a size wide enough to wrap around my foot, so I wouldn't need to hold it with my hands. This is what I was looking for. I like the size of the gel pack.

It stays put around injured areas since it molds easily in that area. Not easily punctured, it is rugged and durable. The water remains cool and quickly cools down. Because this is a two pack, I can always have one available to me when I need it.
