I found this product to be very helpful in targeting my painful sciatica, while not causing further damage. It is the perfect sized frozen gel disk. It is soft, bendable, and stays cold for just enough time to provide pain relief. I have at least four in a pack so I always have at least one available and I can place several in different places. As long as I keep them near my body, they give me pain relief. I can wear them while I work. In addition to being a real user, I am sadly a real sufferer as well. I bought it since I will have a biopsy soon. I was told that I would be sent home with an ice pack but that I should buy something in advance to have at home and ready to go. I would need to apply ice for 20 minutes of every hour for 24 hours while awake at the biopsy site. This product worked wonderfully. I was very impressed with how compact and easy it was to keep the pack in the freezer. Detailed Description I was able to take an emergency nap every hour and put the used one to the back of the pack so I could recycle it through the pack. It was just the right size, not cumbersome, and one side is soft so it doesn't stick to you. It was well worth the money that I spent on this package, and I would probably buy it again in the future, if I needed it. I've suffered from TMDs for around four and five years, but don't currently take any medication. It worked well for me to apply ice to my jaw when it occurs a couple of years ago, when a doctor friend suggested it. Something about the shocking cold seems to knock the brain's pain neurons out of commission for a bit — and when they reset, they're not so enthusiastic about reporting the phantom pain anymore. Having an ice pack handy while I'm traveling is not easy because I won't have a freezer with me - and the ice packs I had purchased take a long time to freeze again. With the new workspace, which is missing a refrigerator, this has become a particular problem. As I recalled the other advice I had received — that I should apply heat to my jaw — I was relieved. As a result, I skipped it because I could never understand why it would work. After all, I was already warming up my gel packs, and I decided I'd order a new set (this set). I hate to say it, but they work - possibly even better than ice! (They can certainly be applied more quickly. I can heat them up in 15 seconds in any microwave I find nearby.
