Tea tree oil should never be used in a burn treatment! Many of the five-star reviewers haven't even used the product yet, preferring to keep it in their first-aid kits for future use. So, I tried this Burn Shield on my second-degree burns, and it was not a pleasant experience. The strong tea tree scent should have alerted me to the fact that the quantity was likely to be irritating. I used gauze and tape to secure the pad on my burn. My burn wound began to tingle shortly after I applied it. It had turned into a burning sensation after about 5 minutes, and I had to remove it quickly or risk aggravating my burn. When I removed the Burn Shield pad, my burn was surrounded by a bright red rectangle the same size and shape as the Burn Shield pad. As a result, it both irritated the burn and the unburned skin around it. This product is definitely not for sensitive skin, but I'm concerned that anyone with a regular sensitivity could make their burn worse by using these pads. br>br>In addition, I believe the Amazon page for this product is deceptive. If you've had a bad burn, you've probably used "hydrogel burn pads," which are thick, clear, rubbery, and SOLID gel pads. The product claims to be the same hydrogel burn pad, but it's just a goopy gel on a thick foam pad, which I wasn't expecting after using so many of the first variety's hydrogel burn pads. In any case, stick to gel pads that don't contain any irritant essential oils. Tea tree oil has a variety of medical applications, but it's not the best for burns.
It accomplishes the purpose for which it was created. I just wish it had its own adhesive method rather than requiring me to use medical tape, which was time consuming. It immediately begins to work by cooling the burn wound.
Hydrogel is not used in the creation of this product. This is not the same as a hydrogel, which is a thick sheet of gel-like material; this is a foam square soaked in serum. When this foam bandage dries, it may stick to your wound, and tea tree oil has the potential to burn people's skin. This isn't something I'd try on my injury because it's risky.
This is a fantastic addition to any IFAK or medical kit.
It's all better now! It's a little sloppy, but it gets the job done.
For burns, this is ideal. I keep it in my medical bag in case of an emergency.
Exceptional item.
Positives include:
- Burn gel and dressing is an essential treatment that is frequently overlooked in most first-aid kits. Quick burn treatment is important to help heal the skin, whether it's from a severe sunburn or from touching something hot. I'm thrilled to have two of these packets in my first-aid supplies.
- Gel is a substance that is not flammable. It will stick to the skin and will not stick to the skin.
- Children are safe to use. Non- both hazardous and non-harmful irritant.
- The package is sufficiently thin and light (1. 6 oz) that it can be included in backpacking kits in the event of cooking, scalds, or fire burns.
- The thick spongy pad can be cut to fit any body part. If only a small portion is required, the remainder can be returned to the foil pouch and saved for when the dressing needs to be changed.
- Long storage/shelf life! The package arrived with four years and six months left on its expiration date.
- Instructions are printed in eight languages on the back, with pictograms at the very top.
- I like how the packaging includes contact information and a link to the company's website. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this method.
- This is just the dressing in its natural state. It will require a wrap to keep it in place against the skin.
- The dressing is messy because it is soaked in a gel. To keep the dressing in place and the tea tree oil on the skin, a wrap is required once more. Most first-aid kits, unfortunately, do not include a wrap. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative
- A product made in the United States would have been my first choice. This is a product of South Africa.
- Again, first aid is critical in the interim between an accident and professional treatment. This is an excellent piece of equipment to have in any first-aid kit, in my opinion.
