I have been using a blood glucose monitor for many years (I have diabetes) and use test strips as well. Having said that, I have never had as many test strips fail as I have had this year. The multiple error messages I received when trying to get a keytone reading frustrate me. It took me a few test strips to get a good reading on my blood sugar this morning. Fasting days and cheat days can be enjoyed with this. I have no problems with it. Don't touch the ends of the strips, or you'll get a message that you can't use the strips. Putting your fingers in the middle of the disc is safe. I find it to be beneficial for fasting and cheat days when you want to get into ketosis again.

People have expressed issues with readings or not getting enough blood in their urine tests. I've never dealt with this issue and when I tested each time the results were as expected. If you are following the keto lifestyle then limit yourself to checking your ketones only once every two weeks.
