It appeals to me. Squirrels are one of my favorite things to watch. br>There is only one problem: There's no way to get the shells, etc. out of the enclosed area once it's mounted except to scoop it up by hand, which, aside from being gross, is a pain. It's inconvenient because once I get inside, I'm not sure what to do. Get a handful; getting my closed fist out of there is a real struggle! It necessitates the installation of a trap door on the ground floor. Regardless of the oddity, I think it's fantastic. I adore the fact that it isn't mass-produced. br>br>As an aside, my feeder is made out of a quart-size Ball jar, which is, I believe, the largest Ball jar readily available, and can be easily replaced if I drop it while washing. My house also has a slanted roof that is flat. The larger squirrels eat from the top of the tree. It would be more difficult if it had a pitch roof, and if it was any bigger, the raccoons would be able to get in. That's not going to work. I really like this feeder - Squirrels are incredibly amusing. This works to keep them away from the bird feeders! (I'm thinking about getting another - I had to leave my robe at home this morning. "Now, cut it out!" says the person standing over the squabbling squirrels. SQUIRRELS, CUT IT OUT!.
Southeastern squirrels fit perfectly in this bottle, which I like because it's not too big and is made of glass. It's perfect for squirrels from the Southeast. It is not accessible to birds. I particularly like how I can twist it firmly into place to ensure that it is secure. I take it down at night because the peanuts have been eaten by something during the night. To get at the sunflower seeds, I chewed the opening of a bird/squirrel feeder wider. I did, however, place a bright motion-activated light in front of the feeders last night. The feeders don't seem to have been tampered with in any way.
Screws for mounting and top were included, which added to the solid stability! Nice, even cuts, sanded, no rough spots, just a well-made product. It's simple to put something together, but make sure the holes are centered and sanded smooth so there are no rough edges on the holes! If you think it's just a squirrel feeder, you're right, but it's also made with care and pride! Thank you, KM GUY!.
I removed the back plate and placed it on the ground, where it is currently being used by squirrels. They put their front torsos in the box and dig through the jar for items. Although the jar could be larger, the shack is far too small for squirrels.
Appreciate the attention to detail and finishing touches that make it appealing as well as entertaining and useful.
