This feeder isn't working at the moment - Design flaws. - The birds The seed can't be easily removed from the tray by large, medium, or small. The outside dowel arrangement does not appear to be usable by the birds, and the tray's high lip is too close to the plexiglas, preventing the birds from getting their beaks down into the seed. We tested it for six weeks in the same location as our old feeder (which had worked perfectly for 25 years) and with the same seed. Cardinals, touheys, and finches, as well as jays and doves, as well as small birds such as sparrows, all participated. They'd come once, tried and failed, and then left. I'm currently disassembling it and modifying it with a small keyhole saw and chisel to see if I can get it to work. I also placed an order with a different vendor for a new bird feeder. br>br>The quality of the work is also lacking. Large knots are tied around the edges of pieces that are prone to splitting. br>br>I'm not sure I've ever given someone a "one star" rating, but this one is deserving.
This new one has yet to be accepted by the birds. It's simple to fill, and I'm sure I'll enjoy watching the birds once they've accepted it. Our other feeder, which is right next to the new one, continues to attract them. The only way to find out is to wait. I'm curious as to what "large" means.
Fantastic, well-crafted birdfeeder that arrived in perfect condition. Thank you very much! I'm sure it'll be a hit with our various birds.
The feed trough is narrow, and the panels only feed a small amount of seed. I'm going to replace it with my old feeder after about three weeks.
The construction is very nice and solid. Large birds, such as doves, won't be able to destroy the feeder because of its design. Songbirds will love it because it is designed specifically for them.
Our large cedar bird feeder is beautiful in every way.
The design is lovely, and filling it with bird seed is a breeze.
