Reese Original Holland Rusk, 3.5 ounces (Pack of 6)

This item arrived rancid on the first delivery. Even though the rusks' expiration date isn't until December of this year, the small amount of oil in them had gone "off," and they smelled terrible. With some trepidation that I would receive the same thing in the next batch, I decided to have Amazon send a replacement rather than a refund because I was in desperate need of these. I'm glad I gave it a second chance because these rusks are AMAZING. br>br>I don't usually purchase food that has been "prepared" in any way. I don't usually eat frozen or packaged dinners, but I frequently find myself in a situation where I need toast or crackers and don't have either in the house, in which case I really need to have something like this on hand. br>br>It's hard to imagine plain, dry "rusks" having much flavor, but these do. There's a teeny-tiny hint of sweetness here, which works well in both sweet and savory dishes. I had a rusk with some home-made jam this morning. I used some leftover hummus and topped it with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds. I had a sliced tomato on the side with a smidgeon of mayo. I had a tablespoon or two of pickled vegetables in another small bowl. The ruck and hummus combination had a surprising amount of flavor. That's something I'm going to do again. br>br>I believe a fried egg on top of one of these toasts would be delicious. Tomorrow, I'll give it a shot. Also, with some berries on top, I can see these rusks being A PERFECT teatime snack - Alternatively, a drizzle of good honey could suffice. As I write this review, I'm thinking of a lot of different recipes. br>br>We wholeheartedly endorse!.

When I'm trying to eat healthier and avoid bread, I reach for Holland Rusk. Eggs, tuna salad, and meat are the only foods I can't eat. Without toast or bread, you can't have cheese combinations or the like, so a slice of this comes in handy. It resembles a single large crouton. I was relieved to discover it on Amazon because it was no longer available in my local stores.

Thank you very much! Extremely well-protected in its packaging. There weren't any that were broken. Holland Rusk is one of my favorite authors. The only issue is that they are extremely addicting!.

Exactly as it should be. Nabisco used to make a similar product, but I'm afraid it's no longer available; they now make Holland Rusk pudding.
