A native Korean American, I was born in Korea and raised in the U. S. From authentic, homemade gochujang to cheap, nasty store bought varieties, I have tried it all. Having enjoyed a range of gochujang from the mild to the volcano-hot, I have to admit that this one was very spicy. A scale of 0-100 would be appropriate for this sentence If I were to give it a 10, I would easily give it During the past few months, I've eaten spicy food almost every day, and even used one of the hottest hot sauces in the world, so trust me when I say this is quite spicy. Upon opening my package, I noticed the color was darker than most others, which indicates the sauce has ripened on its own I attribute the superior flavor of ripened gochujang to its color rather than a bright orange color. I think mine was almost a maroon color. It is an amazing combination of flavors, but I was caught off guard by the flavor of my homemade tteokbokki because I did not expect it to be so spicy. Even as I ate it, I had to fight through the occasional tear (maybe because dust was in my eyes). On the other hand, it didn't give me a stomach ache nor did I experience any burning afterward. It is a must if you are like me and love spicy, flavorful food. There is no guarantee that this sauce will help if you don't like spicy food.
The purpose of my purchase was to make Oh my goodness, this stuff is hotter than a ghost pepper in the Sahara desert! I am one for spicy food, but the faint of heart should stay away. Holy moley, this tub shouldn't let you down, nothing's going to be able to harm it.
I loved the taste of it and it was spiced! My words are very spicy, so do take them seriously! Hot peppers and spicy food in general are favorites of mine, and I've got an iron gut that can handle ghost pepper hot sauce like it was nothing, now this sauce by no means gets to the level of ghost peppers, but it's certainly tasty. As a Canadian, I'm so used to seeing foods labeled "spicy" in America but then it turns out it's like eating a bell pepper when it's actually mild. This is pretty spicy, around the taste of a jalapeno or a serrano pepper deseeded and it's sweet, salty, and a teeny bit tangy. I like to use this for stir fries and for tofu dips. This is a rather large tub so it'll last me quite a while, so I definitely recommend it! Next time, I'll likely order one with a bit more spice, but for now I'm happy with this one!.
This obsession has taken over my life. If you serve this dish with rice or noodles and vegetables you can use steamed or sautéed vegetables. Chicken, shrimp, and beef are all excellent choices. My stir fry dishes taste great when I add it to them. There is nothing better than this stuff. Since we included it in almost every meal, we consumed half of it in just a couple of weeks. For the first time ever, I also made Kimche using this and shredded carrots, cabbage and spring onions, but I added some rice vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic as well. I'm so happy with how it turned out! It's a bomb dot com, this gochujang.
However, I took Luckily, all pieces of my container arrived intact at my house with perfect seals. When I tried it in ramen, it had a nice kick and flavor, and it could be customized. There are a lot of mukbang videos on YouTube and a lot of the recipes use this paste so I'm confident it will be helpful! It has a slightly sweet heat and a good flavor depth. This powder can be added to ramen, stir fries or any food where an authentic taste and an impressive kick are needed. As soon as this container is gone, I will certainly order more!.
Bobby Flay may be an all gung ho type of guy, but that's not the point I'm all about it. It was for a new recipe that claimed to be the best hot-dog recipe ever that I had to purchase this You can never go wrong with a bowl of hot and sour soup. The internet is abuzz with this stuff, and now I understand why. You won't have an acidic reaction when you eat it- There are lots of trendy hot sauces to choose from. The sauce is really good and there isn't a lot of chili pepper in it- I definitely plan to put this stuff to good use.
Upon close inspection of the sauce, you will notice that it is thick, dark brown, and securely sealed (see photo). As you can see on the ID in the photo, the color is brighter in smaller quantities. There is a sludgey, thick, but smooth texture to the material. There is nothing like it in terms of taste. The flavor of this sauce is very complex so it can't be comparable to that of a single pepper or hot sauce. I can tolerate habaero peppers, but this wasn't one of them. Whatever you want to call it, it's glutinous rice. In fact, they didn't have any If you are not familiar, gochujang's ingredients include glutinous rice. Otherwise, it can be any other Korean spicy paste. They substituted the sweetness of rice with corn syrup on the off chance that you do not already know what gochujang tastes like made with traditional rice. You're a newbie. The rest of the world may ask their mother to make some gochujang while you are satisfied. But I'll use this with herbal soups with a bit of sweetness to avoid being too bitter.
