*I am disappointed.
It's hard to find black beans I don't like. This is the first order I've made from an internet retailer. I've made two batches of these since I purchased them. I like both of them very much. The organic nature of the products seems true unpackaged, but the packaging in this kind of plastic has me suspicious. Smell the bag with your nose, you will notice the smell of chemicals that cause the bag to smell strong. A plastic container or bag was used, and I'm sure it's what triggered the issue. The rest of the 10 pounds of beans are in glass jars and I am leaving them open so they can be air conditioned. I hope the company sees this review, since they need to know that this is not acceptable.
I tried to cook them in an Instant Pot without soaking them first. If the beans are still hard, they must be old. I read that when that happens, they are stale. Upon looking at the pull date on the bag, I found that they were well within the indicated date range. My money will NOT be wasted on these again, as I have no idea what the deal is.
There were two bags and one of them smelled fine. In the other, there was a moldy smell. Despite my disappointment, I kept my cool. It wasn't real, but I thought it must have been my imagination so I put up my vacuum bags. Despite the fragrance, when I opened that bag today, it stank to high heaven. Trying to cook it to see if it is edible will be my next step. Our hearts go out to those who suffer from this disease. It was a $40 waste.
It's impossible to go wrong with 10#s of black beans, is it? The black bean brownie is my God, not that I need 10 pounds of beans to make brownies, but if you need to, you could use them for other recipes too, I suppose. Honestly, this is a great price on organic and with 10# you can get a long haul out of the bag. I tend to buy in bulk, no matter how small it is. As the price was so low, I simply could not afford not to buy.
I made these in the pressure cooker (Instant Pot) today. There is nothing better than them! overnight overnight in water (12 hours) with a strip of Kombu (a seaweed that softens In addition to this, you can also cook them with this in them). I loved the taste of these. They were perfect. It has a full body and is.
I found it hard after overnight soaking(24 hours) and cooking (4 hours). It could mean that the beans are old and have probably been stored for several years, perhaps decades. Initially, I thought that it was just a bad batch, but every bag I have bought has been like this (this is my third bag). We will not buy from this company.
There is still hardness to them, and they do not taste good either. Even after soaking them for 12 hours and 24 hours, they did not grow. I think the seller should return the money for this item since it is not what they advertise and it cannot be eaten. I won't buy or recommend this product.
