Are these untoasted (white) coconut chips - Are they also air-tight? freeze-dried food dried - Do the chips have the (brown) skin around the edges?

They've been lightly toasted, and the toasting has left a brown stain on them. They are brown-skinned, to be sure.

Not good! I'm a big fan of coconut chips, and I have to say that this one is mediocre at best

$10 for about 2 lbs of organic coconut chips may seem like a good deal, but please shop around. They have no flavor and have nothing to do with coconut. You're better off buying a pound at Wholefoods for $11.

Snacking is not recommended because of the unpleasant texture

The texture is very fibrous and unpleasant. This toasted coconut has far too much husk on it to be useful as a snack. I'm not sure how well this would go in a recipe. I'm afraid you'll have to choose between compost and animal feed.
