In the package is a seasoning packet. There is no use for it for me. In lieu of salt, pepper, dried onions, etc., I season my own food with my own amount of those ingredients
Depending on how split peas are stored, their shelf life can range from one year to ten years. As for aging peas, I have noticed that they take much longer to cook and decompose than younger peas. It has lost its flavor as well. Making sure everything is airtight will ensure you are ready for a dystopian future. I also received split pea without the barley in the packages I received.
The beans usually go over rice, and I get three or four meals out of them.

The amount of water I added to the recipe, as well as chopped carrots and cucumber, was three cups. Generally, you will want to use the whole spice packet (although if you are on a low salt diet you might want to skip the spice packet). The fact is I added it to the soup mix and fell in love with the flavors and consistency. Additionally, I added the carrots at the very end of cooking, so it took 30 minutes longer to cook. The food was delicious!.
There are plenty of servings in the freezer, as I have enough for six + more servings. It is very good on a cold day and I have enough to last 6+ regular meals. While this seasoning mix does not contain MSG, it has a good amount of salt in it. So for those wondering how much salt to use, I recommend taking it easy on this.
In most grocery stores, it is becoming increasingly difficult to locate soup mixes. Only a few grinds of salt are needed to give the food the right amount of flavor without overpowering I like that it is not too salty for me since I have a heart condition.
