The smell of old old fish was less salted, but it was still there. Old Roman based dishes benefit from the same use, but with a greater
I would say 9 out of 10 I recently purchased this after agostino recca anchovy juice. It is an equivelent to this and tastes way, way better than the earlier bottle I bought. I also got 2 bottles for less than I would have had to pay for 1 bottle of this juice. Although the shape is cool, it looks like an amphora
My knowledge of the subject is limited. The gluten issue I have does not bother me at all. For flavor, such small amounts of the substance should be used, which may have explained why I had no troubles
This is exactly how the one I have looks like. The food was delicious as well.

Although I haven't tried Garum in a long time, I am familiar with its history. Although I can't speak for the authenticity of this one, the label does mention that they did extensive research based on Pompeian ruins to make sure they got My mouth is watering just thinking about it. As for taste, I would describe it as something like soy sauce with a fishy taste. The flavor of anchovy pasta has the same sort of characteristic, but with a more pronounced saltiness and a milder fish flavor. Basically, you can use it as you would use salt. It is very salty, so you shouldn't use it for cooking. The bottle suggests a portion size of 14g, but about half of that is sufficient to make one meal fairly salty even in small quantities. In addition to adding a delicious umami taste to the dish, it also improves its presentation. Of course, there is a slight fishy smell as well. My wife is bothered by the odor of this fish, because it has a fairly strong smell of fish. The smell doesn't bother me, but she is bothered by the fish odor. Since we've been married for a long time, I've noticed that whenever my wife complains about the stinkiness of a fish, it's usually pretty tasty. There is no exception to the rule with this sauce. Due to the fact that the bottle only has a stopper on it, you have to be careful to pour just the right amount along the side of the bottle and not get any water dripping down it. If the company improved the bottle design to make it easier to pour, it would definitely help. Despite it being somewhat pricey at $32, you do get a good amount of sauce for the amount you pay. (The 100ml bottle was considerably larger than the photo shows. I was surprised. I've experienced a major change in my life as a result.
Even though something that smells like a ripe fart can be rich in flavor and complex in complexity, it still puzzles me how it can do that. It was known to the Ancient Romans that garum could enhance the flavor of any dish. Rather than just being a salty taste, umami serves as an entirely different flavor. As far as one can tell, Garum adds a level that is not immediately recognizable as fishy. "As a cook, I always add it quickly and discreetly so nobody has to ask, 'who just farted'.
A little garum is worth a lot, but it is expensive. Although I've tried many types of garum, this Spanish version has remained my favorite.
Just wanted to try this since I am a huge fan of ancient Rome. In the end, it was a really good movie. The sauce has a depth of flavor that you can't find anywhere else. Getting addicted to it is like getting addicted to Then he or she cracks. Unfortunately, the price is too high.
The real deal. There is a statement on the bottle that it is based on residue analysis of actual ancient garum. An ancient recipe is also included.
My taste buds did not like it as strongly as I expected, but I was delighted to find that it makes for an excellent umami ingredient. I used it for both chicken and Reading an article about ancient Roman fish sauces and how modern versions of those sauces like this one still exist is what introduced me to it. The fish sauce is excellent, highly recommend for beginners and experienced cooks alike.
Adding this sauce to roasted veggies or pasta is particularly enticing, and it is delicious with soups as well. I especially like using it with olive oil when roasting veggies and It takes only a little to make a big difference. Salt is added, so you have the option of lightening. Despite what garum says, do not be put off It was the most valued seasoning in ancient Roman culture, for a reason!.
It was quite disappointing. I thought there would be something greasy. There is no difference between it and vinegar in terms of liquidity. This product shows no protein content on the label. I am wondering how a roman soldier would maintain his protein intake with such a watery product. There is no mention of how much water has been diluted into the paint. I was expecting a stronger flavor for $30, but the taste is light and does not have the strong fish odor that I expected. May be one reason we switched from mayo to ketchup over the past two thousand.
