MSG is. On the ingredients list, there is no mention of sugar. I ordered this from Amazon because my daughter uses it frequently and I enjoy her delicious cooking. It's fantastic, and I use it all of the time. Johnny's is definitely worth a visit!
The manufacturer changed the product's ingredients about a year and a half ago to remove MSG, but there is still a small amount of sugar in it to keep the flavor. This, I believe, applies to all of their products, with the exception of the 5 gallon sizes sold to restaurants.
Because I am not gluten intolerant, I am not concerned about this, but I understand your situation. Because this is a seasoning salt (and a damn good one at that), I can't imagine it containing any wheat products. It's a very simple seasoning.

My favorite place was Johnny's. However, their original MSG-containing formula has unfortunately been discontinued. It's still good, but not as good as it was previously. This one, on the other hand, is sweetened. (One star has been taken away. ) The other star is due to the fact that it is still being sold with false information at Johnnys or Amazon. Although some listings show the original packaging, the ingredients list states that MSG is not present. Others display the new label, which claims there is no MSG, but the ingredients list contains MSG. Others simply display a picture without a list of ingredients. It's a mess. br>br>Another star was taken away because the pepper in this recipe is much larger than the salt, which is sometimes fine but causes issues when shaking it out. The pepper will rise to the top, and you'll get mostly pepper if you try to shake just a little out. br>br>After I purchased the product, the information on it changed, and the seller graciously offered a refund. Instead, I went out and bought some MSG, and now I'm living the life of a celebrity chef. Johnnys. Original Johnny's, may you rest in peace. It's no longer magical.
If Johnny's wants to provide an MSG-free alternative product, that's fine. However, in this case, they replaced MSG with sugar and changed other aspects of their recipe, so they no longer offer the Johnny's we all know and love. No one in our family will buy this product again unless the original recipe is brought back; the old Johnny's was the best beef in our opinion; This product is so bad that it doesn't deserve a rating at all.
It's a hit with my entire family. At my house, we adore this seasoning. It goes well with steak, chicken, and even vegetables. Years ago, we discovered it was the seasoning used on steaks at our favorite local restaurant, and we began using it. It's salty (it's a seasoning SALT), so use it sparingly if you don't like salt. My only gripe is that there seem to be a lot of peppercorn pieces at the beginning and end of each bottle, which I could do without. Aside from that, it's fantastic. For a 2 pound bag, this is an excellent deal. container, and it was much less expensive than what I could get at my local supermarket (Note: It only cost $11! I paid $67 for it when I bought it, but it's now $16. 57, which isn't a huge number. Perhaps I was fortunate in finding it on sale).
I've never had a better seasoning salt. I'm a West Coast native who grew up with Johnny's. When I moved to the east coast, I was surprised to discover that no local stores carried Johnny's. I've become addicted to the local Old Bay, which has its origins in my new adopted city, thanks to Amazon and family members who keep my shelves stocked with the good spice. Is it possible that I'm losing my Northwest ancestry? Now is a good time for me to reconsider my life. Yes, I use both in my cooking:.
We enjoy it so much that we've gotten all of our children hooked on it as well. My best friend in southeast Kansas told us about it, and we've been using it on everything for years.
On avocados, I really like it. On French fries, it's also a hit. I've used it on baked chicken and pork chops, as well. To my seasonings, this is a welcome addition.
Since I was a kid, I've been a fan of this seasoning salt because it truly outperforms the rest. I used to get this at Costco, but none of the warehouses in the state where I've been living have it. So, for a great price, you get a large bottle of Johnny's, which makes everything better. For turkey, fish, steaks, pork, soups, sauces, and even popcorn, this is a must-have ingredient. This is a favorite of everyone I cook for, and it's been my go-to culinary weapon for years. "It's pure magic," says the label.
Although inflation is undesirable, I would rather pay a little more than receive less.
