This is by far the best fish breading I have ever tasted. It has a mild spicy taste and has an excellent texture.
There is a hint of pepper in Red. Yellow is still not spicy, but if you don't want the extra zip, you should go for black. It seems that the red color suits catfish better, while the yellow one suits trout and panfish because that's what has traditionally been used.
I say yes! My company has been using this product for years. It is based in St. Louis. It is even available in a 5lb bag when I moved and I purchased it online. Strong enough to neutralize the 'muddy' taste, yet subtle enough to not overwhelm it. I particularly like the way that it adheres to the fish during battering The deep fryer also brings out a crispiness in the food I'd rather not have a soft, soggy mess! To put it simply, it is my go-to My batter will be used when I fry catfish!.
Years ago, I started using Andy's fish fry and I still love it today. Whenever I buy one pound, I always purchase it. The 5 lb. package was fine, but the 10 lb. bag was not. This bag is so salty that I have to mix it with cornmeal to lessen the salt. It is such a salty bag that it makes the fish almost unpalatable. It is likely that I will purchase it again, knowing, however, that cornmeal needs to be added to it.
Andy's Red is catfish the way it was meant to be. If you've never had this tasty fish, you're missing out on something special. There is a bit of Garlic and a little Pepper in here but it is not spicy at all by any means, but if you are sensitive, try regular Andy's.

It has a nice flavor that is mild enough to appeal to everyone. Bake the cookies with a cookie sheet covered in butter-flavored pan spray. Brush the pan with cooking spray, then arrange the breaded fillets in it. Cook the fillets at 350 for 20 minutes, then turn them over and bake for another 20 minutes. Although I tried my hardest to convince my husband that he wouldn't like it, he insisted that everyone says it's the greatest so to some people it must be the greatest. Gritty fish, on the other hand, are off-putting to us. In the future, I will always check the ingredient list and if cornmeal is used, I will not waste my money. I was very impressed with the quality of the product, the packaging, and the speed of delivery.
I have never tried anything like this breading for catfish. There is no need to season the fish, the breading has plenty of salt and pepper. The saltiness once cook is to my liking, as that's how I love Fish is less work to cook when it is prepared this way. Fry your fish in a little oil, and then dip it in. The food was delicious and the service was great It was crisp!.
My husband fishes for crappie, and everyone in our house loves to eat them. It's amazing how good they are. You get a good crunch from it, and you get a nice kick from it.
