I don't think we need that many I have no idea what to do with it.
Everything is fine with me. Cumin or Turmeric would probably be my first pick from this company, but this mixture seems to have a fair amount of clove in it. Despite my dislike for cloves, I still enjoy cooking with them. are a very strong spice that should be used with care, or they will mask all the other flavors. It would have been better if I had done my homework & My own Garam Masala can be made from a recipe I found online. Hence, I could greatly reduce the proportion of cloves, which would allow the other spices to come through. We learned from this experience.
It enhances the taste of the pickles I had been making and the pickled fish of my own making.
We can only live without it. Out of all the brands of garam masala that I've tried this is my favorite.
In general, we grind our own spices, but when time is an issue, or if we don't have time to grind, we use a blend from Frontier, Starwest, or Mountain Rose Herbs. Rather than purchase huge amounts from one of the aforementioned sources, we thought we would give Jiva's blend a try since we didn't need such a large supply this time. Upon receiving our order, we found the food to be dull in color, and its flavour was somewhat weak. It also tasted old, as when spices are stored beyond their expiration dates. The Jiva blend is far more potent than we normally use in our recipes to flavor dishes (yes, even raw meals). Are they cutting their spices with sawdust? One star should be regarded as a compliment as far as we are concerned.
The Tikka Marsala recipe I use here is based on this. The spices are super hot, and I got a lot for the price. I'm happy with my purchase, and I would order again.
I would buy from them.
I like it.
