The Asisan recipes I have been experimenting with lately use this ingredient well. I've been using brown sugar instead of palm sugar because I didn't have access to it. Often I don't want the flavor of molasses in my recipes. Even when I use cane sugar, I sometimes get an earthy flavor from the molasses. It is better to use palm sugar and it does not take much when cooking for two people, so the cost is OK as well. I like the taste of this product because it is not overly sweet like brown sugar, nor is it overpowering like cane sugar (molasses). I did not have an issue with chunking into smaller pieces either, it dissolves quickly when cooking so I had no issues using it. I would recommend anyone venturing into cooking other cuisines to give this one a try. We received our order within the estimated time frame, and the product arrived in great shape with no damage.
Break the pod in half and place it in a bowl. Eight ounces (8oz) is the amount I used. Cook in bursts in the microwave Until it melts. You can check the consistency of the mixture by mashiing with the back of a fork. Compared with brown sugar, it has a milder taste. As a base for pieces of cut up 1" chicken thigh, I then stirred in 3/4 cup fish sauce. I cut up the chicken thighs in 1" As a sugar, it has not been used yet for any other applications. Since then, I have come across palm sugar in a Japanese Filipino The price is cheaper, but it is uncertain whether the product is genuine.
I have been trying to perfect my Thai recipes to make sure they are My husband and I figured I would give palm sugar a try since it is fairly common in Thailand. There is some sort of cross between cane sugar and brown sugar, although this is not as sweet as It seems that good old cane sugar would suffice for the majority of recipes, and brown sugar is a good substitute as well. It's possible that you will appreciate the subtle differences in palm sugar if you have a real sense of authenticity. Although I am not likely to purchase it again, I am glad I tried it out.
There is no palm sugar in this product- it is Judy white sugar colored with food.
The palm sugar I purchased was not genuine, so I kept it. Since I know how to look and taste like a pure being. The seller will never receive my business in the future.
These little "cakes" come in delicious flavors and are easy to handle.
