Questions & Answers

When use baking powder as opposed to baking soda, what is the difference?

A way to create carbon dioxide bubbles in a recipe is to use sodium bicarbonate, which can react with acidic ingredients such as lemon juice, vinegar, and buttermilk. In addition to sodium bicarbonate, baking powder contains a second ingredient such as tartaric acid powder, which, when mixed with water, will react with the sodium bicarbonate to produce carbon dioxide bubbles, which is why baking powder contains its own acid. In addition, one of the nice things about commercial baking powder is that it has a double-acting effect. Adding water to it will cause it to start releasing carbon dioxide when it gets wet, but the heat from the oven will cause it to release even more CO2. Baking powder and something acidic will not provide even more CO2 bubbles from the heat of the oven.

Are there any aluminum components in this product?

The Rumford brand is made of aluminum Having no restrictions.

If I bake coconut bread, can I use this in the coconut flour?

Baking Powder can easily be substituted in any recipe that calls for it.

In what kind of steel can is this product packaged? Is it safe to keep it unsealed for an extended period of time?

The top and bottom of the container look to be steel, the lining appears to be paperboard, and it expires 11/18. I have had it for about 6 months.

The performance is complemented by nostalgia
5/5

It is my preference to use Calumet baking products because they are always excellent. Since I grow up in the city, I collect Old Calumet baking powder, which I always bought because the container reminds me of my mother's. The can always reminds me of her every time I reach for it. No matter your level of nostalgia, this is a good film Make sure you are using a good.

This is the right brand for those who do not consume wheat or gluten
5/5

When I was a kid, I used to bake a lot and didn't really pay attention to the brand or As far as I knew, it would not function as well if it sat in the cupboard for too long. Having recently adopted a new lifestyle, I realized it was the manufacturer that made the difference, especially when you are avoiding gluten or wheat.

It's a brand owned by Mama and Granny
5/5

Baking powder biscuits for breakfast is a staple in my house, and I like to use Calumet baking powder like my mother and grandparents. Camping is a lot more fun with bannocks, so we make them over the campfire and eat them. Furthermore, Mickey Dee's, and KFC's biscuits are getting to be too expensive! I will be purchasing more biscuits in the future. Also, the delivery was very fast!.

It seems this item is becoming more and more popular, so I purchased it for my great aunt
5/5

A generic brand of this item was purchased for my great aunt because it appears this item is becoming harder to come by in I cannot guess what the standard was back when she was born in the early 1900's.

There is no product which can match the level of reliability offered by this one
5/5

The reliability of this product that I have used for a generation and my mother for a generation before me is very hard to match.

Calumet Baking Powder is a good product with a good price
5/5

My mother always purchased it. At discount stores, I haven't been able to find it. In a warehouse store, I did find it, but the size was more than I needed. The item was very easy to find at Amazon and I have only used it once since buying it, but I am very happy with how it performed.

The ideal ingredient for baking, keto, and paleo! When it comes to baking powder, store brands are not as effective
5/5

It makes a difference when you are baking keto, paleo, etc. to make your cakes rise better when using almond or coconut flour. It really is a big difference! I never thought there would be much difference between baking powders. Definitely worth the purchase!.

The most essential item ever needed by every home baker
5/5

product that has been around since the early 1800s that I personally have used for at least 40 years. Cans with expiration dates in the newer versions have them, while those with no dates do not. They were disposed of because we felt they were past their prime.

In many baked goods, you need this to raise the cakes, along with the baking soda, so this product is a must.

Well made and trustworthy.
